Viva Las Vegas !!

I'm off on holiday soon YAY !!!

I'll be in Las Vegas between 24th Sep and the 1st Oct. I'll be staying in the Luxor hotel (which I'm told is nice).

This beeing my first trip to Vegas I was wondering if any of you residents or frequent visitors have any "must see" things and also, where are the guitar shops (I know E.R's is on the strip but I'll only be going there so I can fully understand the horror stories I've read on here).

My Wife likes Snow Patrol so I've got tickets to go see them at the Hard Rock Cafe whilst we're there and I quite fancy having a beer at the Rainbow bar and grill. Are ther other things you'd recomend doing though ?

Thanks in advance,
Ben

Let me know what kind of things you're interested in, and I can let you know ALLL the great sites!

We have an exhibit at the Trop (the Tropicana Hotel) right now, called the "Bodies" or something like that.... Have you heard of it??

ALSO! You MUSTTTT see Sam Ash! If you go there, we might be able to hook up and JAM!!!

Let me know.. I can pretty much guarantee two Brandons, a mom, and a Katrina there to see you.. Anyone else interested can come, too!

~ Katrina

P.S. You gotta check out LVA, too!!

Re: Viva Las Vegas !!

You'll love the Luxor. That's where we stay whenever we go out there (at least twice a year). Nice rooms and a good atmosphere. Great staff. I love the casino, and the pool's really decent too. Now that they have Starbuck's Coffee at the hotel, it's absolutely perfect! The buffet (Pharoah's Pheast) is AWESOME for breakfast or dinner. You usually get coupons for the buffet at check in (buy one get one free type deal).

If you like vintage guitars, check out Cowtown guitars. It's not a huge shop, but it's PACKED with nice gear. And it's right next to Sam Ash (IIRC). Red Rock Guitars is another small shop a bit off the Strip. He had some nice Ibanez gutars in there, but the prices were a little on the high side...

There's always plenty of live entertainment. Check out the House of Blues schedule, especially since you're staying right next door!

Other highlights from our last trip were the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay (if you like aquarium type exhibits, it's very cool), the Blue Man Group show (awesome, especially for musicians), the Freemont Street Experience, Bellagio fountains, Sirens of TI (get there early...), and so on. If you like the adult review type shows, Fantasy at Luxor is really good without being particularly "dirty" (not that there's anything wrong with that, of course).

Nice. I am on vacation as well. I met up with some fellow sevenstring.org buddies tonight for a little jamming in the Boston area, it was a great way to start a vacation. Have fun in Vegas, one of these days, im going to visit Vegas.
