World Cup.

Providing Rooney isn't fit for the world cup, who would your up front partnership be?

Re: World Cup.

For me it's gotta be Darren Bent as he seems as though he's been scoring for fun this season.
Crouch is a Donkey ! There's no point in going down the donkey route again we did that once with Heskey already.

Re: World Cup.

People are all down cos Rooney is injured etc, but if we have 2 of Owen, Bent or Defoe on top form, thats a potentially bad ass up front partnership & teams like Italy can't boast that cos they've got 3 very over-rated whingers- Totti, Del Piero & Vieri up front.

Re: World Cup.

Heskey has all but 1 attribute of being a world class striker-

Talent (like him or not, he HAS got footballing talent), size, presence, strength, pace, power, jump, heading ability.... but the 1 thing you need to be WORLD CLASS is aggression & he doesn't have it, so will never be world class.

Henry, Ronaldinho, Rooney, Shevchenko, Eto'o all have it & i don't honestly think Shevchenko has more talent than Heskey, he just has agression which makes him world class.

If Strachan's brain was in Heskey's body, thats a world class striker!!!!

Re: World Cup.

Owen up front, Gerrard in free role.

Midfield - Joe Cole, Carrick, Lampard and Beckham

And just for the record Heskey is a Donkey, Crouch is a bit better as long as he doesn't try and head the ball

Re: World Cup.

I don't know why, but theres something about Crouch that bothers me. It could be to do with the fact that he is so tall and skinny, he just looks weak and very clumsy. I would have to go with Bent/Owen, if Owen is injured still then Bent and Defoe or even Teddy Sheringham.

Re: World Cup.

Who cares, England won't go far anyway. Three matches and out.

Go Germany!

Wink Re: World Cup.

Why can't I vote for out in the first round...

Anyway, I don't think the English problem will be on the pitch, but in the dugout. The swede/turnip mkII. has no business being at the world's greatest sporting event. The same goes for becks.

Against T&T and Paraguay you can just field any half decent pair/trio of strikers, but don't play Lamps or Stevie G as one of those 2/3. Then, against Sweden England won't need to do anything, just cruise...but I'm pretty sure SGE can mess up something this easy, so...

After that, you will know if Owen is fit (or fit enough to play maybe 70mins)
If he's not, you're screwed. It doesn't matter anyhow, 'cause the final 4 will not include England:

sorry guys.

Re: World Cup.

id like to see Defoe given a chance, he's been great for us, but theres two drawbacks... 1) he'll either not be able to transfer very well to the international stage and suck... or worse... be average... or 2) he'll do fantasticly well, too well infact... and your chelski's and your gooner's will be after him :S but then im just paranoid, balls to i always support germany too so its more likely that at least one of my teams will win

Re: World Cup.

This shows how much I know about football these days, I thought it was a bad joke about that picture of Rooney in the papers where he's Crouch(ed) and Bent, lol. Wait, no lol, that wasn't very funny :s
