Youtube Crashing my Webpage.

I was viewing Youtube yesterday, when all of a sudden the Webpage crashed. Since then, It's been the same, just crashing the webpage all of the time. I have tried using different browsers like Firefox, Internet Explorer 8, Safari and the same result happens. It's not just Youtube either, it's other Websites with embedded videos, even Windows Media Player crashes. I've tried some recommendations to fix the problem like the uninstall/reinstall of Flash player 10 and Java but that isn't fixing the issue either. I even tried a System Restore to just over a week ago, when Youtube and the like where running smoothly, but to no avail either.

Any input here would be much appreciated because this problem is getting really annoying.

Are you using Firefox 3.5? I've had a lot of issues since upgrading to 3.5

Yeh, it's 3.5. Could this really be the cause of my PC problems? I have heard a few other Firefox users have had a few problems.

Re: Youtube Crashing my Webpage.

Reinstalling Adobe flash player might resolve the issue, but you'll have to ensure no browsers are running during cleanup and a fresh install.

Detailed instructions - http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/141/tn_14157.html

Tried it mate, but to no avail. Someone suggested that I might have a virus but my Anti-Virus software can't find anything after a full system scan.

Remove Adobe flash player completely and try Firefox again... 3.5 introduced an open video format to play flash videos without requiring flash player.

As well, at what point does it crash? As soon as the video attempts to stream? Or does the video start and seconds later crash?

I'm no IE expert, but try disabling all Firefox addons and see if that helps.

It's a 3 year old Dell Dimension E520. The link below will show you all the spec.

http://www.dell.com/us/en/dfh/deskto...20&cs=22&s=dfh

It seems to be my PC in general that isn't performing too good. For example, when the screensaver is supposed to appear the screen just goes black and I can't get it off. Windows media player is ok with photos but videos it crashes.

Re: Youtube Crashing my Webpage.

I fixed my Firefox problem, but you seem to be having video driver issues. You should be able to get an updated driver for your video card from Dell's website; that's what I would do next. Get all your drivers up to date.

Re: Youtube Crashing my Webpage.

Odd, when viewing videos through Apple Quicktime, I get no problems at all.

Re: Youtube Crashing my Webpage.

That's because the Quicktime plugin is probably playing all media (except flash) files in your browser.

Did you remove Adobe Flash and then tried playing a flash video in Firefox?
