Best PAF recreation?

With hundreds of pickups and options who has the best PAF recreation? List the model and specs if you could. Magnets etc.

Dimarzio has a 35th anniv PAF I am pretty happy with... I put in the neck position of my Ace Frehley Les Paul

Yes there is, but because "it's a great PAF copy" definitely isn't one of them. It isn't. It's a PAF 'plus', the same way an EVO is a PAF 'plus plus'

For my money the best PAF copy is the Lindy Fralin. Lindy makes gorgeous pickups I'd go matched set, 7.3-7.8 neck, 8.1-8.5 bridge, faded nickel covers AND, I'd leave the covers on.

Re: Best PAF recreation?

Interesting I know Fralin pickups are in some great lutheirs custom guitars. What do you think of the Ibanez "flying fingers?" They sound pretty good. I was curious about those stewmac "parsons street" pups, anyone care to chime in?

I like the Ibanez Super 70's, I left the originals in my '78 FA-100

Re: Best PAF recreation?

PAF but which one? There are LOTS of PAFs from middle of 50s to the last years of 61 with different type of resistance degrees, magnet types etc.

For mass produced pickups, Duncans are the best generally. For boutique makers, Lollars are pretty perfect. I have no direct experience but Tom Holmes ones, Alen Hamel pickups and wolfetones are about great, too...

Re: Best PAF recreation?

I think the Throw-backs are the best PAF out there.
