Chandler Tube Driver alternative

Hi Folks,

I'd like to get the consensus of the group for the best Chandler Tube Driver alternative. I have narrowed down the choices to:
  • Voodoo Lab Sparkle Drive Mod
  • Hermida Dover Drive
  • MXR Fet Driver

I'm planning to run this through a delay unit and a Voodoo Lab Giggity into a clean amp for a portable "violin" tone rig.

Thanks!

The MXR is a great pedal. Have you been able to try any of these?

I haven't tried any of them yet unfortunately

I have seen a whole lot of videos online. Each of them has their pros/cons. I am quite intrigued though with the Hermida Dover Drive.

Re: Chandler Tube Driver alternative

It's not any of the three you asked about, but the Line6 M5 models the Chandler Tube Driver. It does a pretty good job, IMO, and this is coming from somebody who had the rack mount Chandler back in the '90s. I didn't even buy the M5 for any of it's drive/fuzz/distortion models, but I felt compelled to check them out while using my practice amp (Peavey Backstage Plus), and the Chandler model makes that amp sound surprisingly good. Sounds even better on my main amp (H&K TM18 ).

Just food for thought for you. You may want to check it out. Plus, you'd get the other 99 stomp boxes it models.

Thanks for responding folks. The M5 is quite viable considering it has more options.
