I think the purpose of the removeable surfer is so that the design itself cannot be easily duplicated in the custom market. It makes it special like a Donnie hunt painted guitar, or an ATD painted guitar.

Love it, but I wouldn't buy one at the price you can expect.

I say no. I mean come on, its just a print job. Now make it hand paint by Stan the man and then that would be something. I have seen people here with better ideas and could pull them off for far cheaper. A resounding LAME!

Sorry, no bahhh bahhhing here.

I agree I see much better creativity on Jemsite than I do coming from Ibanez. I feel the biggest issue is that it seems to commemorate the album more than the actual relationship with Ibanez.

Look at it this way, what if the JEM 20th had Diamond Daves grill on it like the Eat 'em and Smile LP?

The Crystal Planet guitar shows much more inovation. What about doing the Snakes or something like having his sisters do another hand painted run?

I think the JEM 20th blows it away to for what it's worth. Played one at the Sam Ash in NYC. Not my style, but at least they tried to be different with that one...I am impressed with the guitar it's just not for me.

Which brings me to the big question , maybe they are just testing the water with this JS 20th and they will actually do something else instead....well one can hope so.

i prefer the above minus the pup surrounds, i really hate pup surround on anything that has graphics or a swirl i think they detract from the art... ark at me.

I dig it, definitely the coolest thing to touch this line in a long while. At least the headstock matches .

Re: Do you like the JS20th?

I think it's a cool guitar and I would buy it. I just hope Ibanez doesn't go nuts this time and decide to charge silly amounts of money for it

Jimmy

I'm definitely going to try to persuade the wife to let me buy one when it comes out this summer.

You mean "if" it comes out this summer

I like the fact that Ibanez didn't settle on just cool graphics but went the extra step to add the 3D figure to the top.

I also think it is fitting that the Sufing album cover was used due to the fact that Surfing was the album that really put Joe on the map and was when he started his relationship with Ibanez. That was a pivotal album for both involved parties.

Like it or not, IF this is the design to be released, it will be in limited numbers and an uber collectable guitar on a few different levels. Worth whatever people are wiling to pay (or whatever Ibanez is willing to price it at).

Time will tell if this is actually going to be released and what the price will be (surely in the $5k range or close to what the Jem20th was released at IMHO).

Re: Do you like the JS20th?

i've played one in person (got a connection in the guitar department), it was great. But for $5000, i'd rather buy myself a decent used car.

Re: Do you like the JS20th?

It is quite likely that it is a great guitar, I have a JS 1000 and it is one of the better guitars in the arsenal.
The graphics on the 20th aren't awesome, but they will do for a show piece, I always liked Jack Kirby the originator of the style anyway.
