How many guitars and why?

Hey everyone,
Just curious to see how many (electric) guitars you guys have, which ones they are, and what you use them for (tunings, styles, tones, etc.).

For example, I have 3 main guitars (as well as a bass and a couple acoustics):
RG2550EX: E standard tuning; I use it for everything from death metal to blues.
RG570: D standard, C standard, drop tunings other than D; as versatile as RG2550EX
RG7621: B standard, drop D, Eb every once in a while; this guitar doesn't see clean channels very often

What are yours?

Re: How many guitars and why?

JEM 777VDY, JEM 777VSK, UV7PWH, JEM 7BSB, JEM 7VWH, JEM 90HAM, JEM 7DBK, all of them in A tuning for hard rock and great playing.

Thinking now in a 7PBK and a fender strat.

Why? Vice

Jem FP2, UV777BK, Art 520 and a Cole Clark acoustic. I have dozens if i had the money and space. ;-)

Just love playing them. Simple.

Next one will be kind of a DIY project

Re: How many guitars and why?

I have too many (over 20 I think).

Some are collectors/unique. Some are were projects. It's a pretty wide variety, set up in a variety of tunings, so they all inspire different playing.

Re: How many guitars and why?

Lots.

Most of the ones I have aer keepers that live in their cases. I have a couple of players, both RGs one in E standard and one in Eb.

If i want other tunings I will root through the collection till I find one in the right tuning and pull it out for inspiration

Why? Because I'm finally at the point in my life where I CAN. but now I can afford what I want, I don't have very much time to play them.

Re: How many guitars and why?

Well, VWH for as main player, always gig this.
RG 1520GK for guitar synth duties at gigs.
Custom Fireman (based on RG), wll try to take this to gigs.
Gibson Flying V and Tokai Love Rock for hard tail stuff and general Gibby vibe,
usually gig one or other of these so I can do drop D.

and..
BFP and swirled SK as collectors pieces.
RG470, first ibanez.
Swirled RG7620 to see what a 7 string is like.
Epiphone double neck (No Stairway!) Epiphone sheraton (335 copy), (gotta have a double neck and a semi...)
The heroes - Burns Brian May, Charvel EVH and "Dave Gilmour" Bitsocaster.

All in standard tuning, 7 string has low B.

Er, I think thats it!

Re: How many guitars and why?

Let's see;
Ibanez rg4exfm1(Replaced bridge and middle pup, volume pot is also a killswitch)
Gibson tribal flying V(flying v, tribal graphic, kahler, just add emgs and I've got a bc rich haha)
1999 parker fly deluxe(lighter than my acoustic, great for long shows)
Epiphone SG prophecy ex(designated drop tuning guitar, only one with emgs)
Seagull acoustic(spruce top, rosewood sides. My first guitar)
Fender jaguar HH special(nothing special, either gonna sell it to make room for another ibby or make a ton of modifications to make it worth having)
a knockoff strat(my first electric, needs new pups and neck)
1979 fender FF12(my first 12 string, picked it up at a secondhand guitar shop for $100)
Traveller eg1(for... You guessed it, traveling)
Espanola 3/4th size nylon($20 in cancun, and the only problem I've ever had with it was getting it back home through airport security)
Dean razorback rust special(one of 333, easily one of the best guitars I've ever played, gift from my father)
Dean backwoods 5 banjo(random Christmas gift)
EBMM bongo 4(an awesome bass. And sexy)

I'm guitarded

Re: How many guitars and why?

Some are for collecting (the prolines, the 540s,the '86 artist AR350 w/edge trem, the JS10th,the herc fede swirl and big face donnire replica...)

My main man is the '87 white rg with the balck ibanez logo at the bottom. It has
an evo in the bridge and a paf in the neck with the JS push/pull set up on the vol and tone knobs...it does most everything i need it to...I LOVE that guitar...lol

The red peavey tracer (no head stock logo) was my 1st decent guitar....

Some I just got a great deal on and couldn't pass them up....like my $150 kramer baretta sustainer....still can't believe i got it that cheap

As far as tone/what I use some of the other ones for, the walnut proline 1880 has a dark tone to it...VERY nice for ryth stuff.
If I want absolute max gain/sustaining/in you face tones, the herc fede swirl has a full set of evos that are body mounted...awesome guitar...
The Js10th has a nice, sweet bell like quality to it's tone..I've used it when recording ballads

I already answered this in the other 5 or 6 threads asking, "Show us your collection," or "How many guitars do you own?" You can use the search function if you want to find them. Bwaaaaaaah haaaaaaa haaaaaaaa.

I know. I was more curious to see what tunings people use when they have 20 different guitars and why they have that many guitars. I only have 3 electrics but they're all tuned differently so I was curious to know if anyone else does the same. It's cool to see people's collections but I'm interested in more than just pics
