Jemsite Guitar Challenge July '14 -- Feeler

What backing tracks does everybody want to do? You can be as specific (links?) or vague as you like. I'm listening!

Re: Jemsite Guitar Challenge July '14 -- Feeler

I've no suggestions, I like what you've been picking so far. I've liked some better than others, but that's what makes it a challenge. Even if you're not keen on a track I feel it's a good learning experience and important to give it a go. I find myself listening to my earlier attempts thinking "what the hell was I drinking when I thought that sounded good?", so I feel I'm improving all the time, mostly with what I learn from listening to other entries and eliminating some of the mistakes I made on tracks that were out of my comfort zone.

Hmm, I guess I'm saying, no matter what you pick some are going to love it and some not so much, so keep doing what you're doing and don't worry too much about making everyone happy. People are always going to drop in and out of a challenge like this due to the track or external factors. I guess I just like the idea of not knowing what's coming and love it or hate it I'm not going to miss the opportunity to inflict some trauma on those unfortunate enough to click on my entries.

I'm sure I can do July's challenge so if possible, something dark and sad. Something along the lines of this:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ioCg4X7jRQ

I prefer dark music as I can feel the pain in the music; It's very powerful. I want to work on learning to put emotion into my playing and no better way that to play emotionally powerful music

I'm with Laobi... Its hard for me to even attempt any of these backing tracks, but its good for me to get out of my comfort zone of just learning songs and forces me to learn new things instead of just following tablature. Nobody has threatened bodily harm to me yet... so I'll keep making trying my best to get better!

Maybe something interesting with more chord changes? A key change?

I'm just thankful that you are doing this! It pushes me more than you know.

The ones you have been picking have been good. If I had to suggest something I would like to try jam over, maybe something mellow like with clean guitars- not acoustic but you know like Vai's Sisters/Boy from Seattle in that kind of vibe or anything like dreamy etheral sounding like in the Lydian mode but I don't mind really I'll try to play over anything.

Just killing time while I eat lunch at work... There are thousands of backing tracks on youtube. Geex, Frank... how do you pick one? lol...

This one is different... has some changes:

This one is fun once you get past the intro... for the metal heads anyway \m/:

Here's another semi-heavy one... has some changes:

Prog metal one... gets pretty freaky:

If you want to get groovy:

Plain old hard rock:

Rock ballad style - pretty cool:

Re: Jemsite Guitar Challenge July '14 -- Feeler

my suggestion would be to pick a track from a backing tracks site where we can download the mp3 directly because the last few times I've tried to download youtube vids to mp3 they didn't convert well...the music cut in and out several times, which was pretty annoying...

Lots of good tracks here: http://www.guitarbackingtrack.com/bts/Jamtracks.htm

A little late and there's no guarantee I'll be able to enter this month, but I've always liked this:

Re: Jemsite Guitar Challenge July '14 -- Feeler

I like that one, Drew!

There are also these 3 at guitarbackingtrack.com. They have clean guitars and key modulations, and are under 4 minutes and have direct MP3 downloads. Last time though, I uploaded the video through mediafire, so the end-user (aka- you who are reading this) doesn't need to convert the vid anymore. The youtube one Drew mentioned (and most of the other YT-BTs) seems to actually be mixed better than these I link to, but let me know what you think!

Actually all of the ones you guys suggested totally rock! (wish I found them before). If you guys can help me decide between all these options, it would be great!
