This was a tough one... everyone had some good stuff! Had to give Swirltop the vote though. Nice intro!

Re: Jemsite Guitar Challenge June '14: OFFICIAL POLL!

Hey thanks FE I appreciate it!

I had to give it to Frank... his track really blew me away, really cool phrasing throughout the track

But really great stuff from everyone.
I think these challenges are slowly making a difference in my playing. Recording and listening to what works and more often what doesn't is a huge help :P

I agree... He caught fire about halfway through the track and tore it up! It was a tough pick between you two.

Everyone had some great moments... Heep's bluesy phrasing (and rockin blue bird... lol), Laobi's intro and quick runs, Rightjem's cool intro and tight legato!

I didn't know that when I voted! Now it says I already voted, so I'll remember that for next time...

Thanks again for doing these challenges. Sure makes me learn a lot and hopefully I have improved a bit along the way.

In a contest of immortals can a simple man such as myself pick a king??

YES, his name is Frank.

Re: Jemsite Guitar Challenge June '14: OFFICIAL POLL!

finally had chance to listen to all of these…imho, the parity it is getting tighter on these because it seems to be getting harder to pick one…I think these challenges are good for pushing everyone to up their game maybe…;o)

Heep - reminded me of Joe - in a good way because I love Joe…very nice playing with good feel and tone, liked the dancing bird too nice job man!

Laobi - smooth and melodic with great runs! I think your guitar could have been higher in the mix because I was totally into what you were doing and it would have been nice to have it higher in the mix…but that is minor because you did a great job with the track!

FireEagle - you continue to bring great melody with your submissions…I'm not really into shredding so I tend to perk up when I hear nice melodies being woven into a track and I think you do that very well - nice work!

Rightjem - it was nice to hear you submit something because I really like your playing - you always have nice tone but you also back that up with unique and creative phrasing, which I really like…you also have very nice legato technique - nicely done!

fwd0120 - impressive playing, as always…your confidence comes through in your playing and I always enjoy listening to you play because you always bring nice tone, fire and a variety of well-phrased techniques - great job as always!

swirltop - for a guy who doesn't always seem to think highly of his own playing you sure seem to bring the goods…and I think your take on this track was one of your best yet! your tone was very nice, you threw some nice technique in there and I thought your phrasing was great! you should also get extra points for playing your own build (your guitars are amazing!) nice work man!

again, it was really hard to pick one but I went with Laobi for my single vote - it was very very close for me but I really liked the smooth flow of Laobi's phrasing and I thought his technique was impressive yet without overplaying by throwing in a whole bunch of notes in there - a nice mix of tone, technique and phrasing!
Nice work everyone!!! =)

Re: Jemsite Guitar Challenge June '14: OFFICIAL POLL!

Thanks for the feedback, Dorian... and the kind words. I don't have any speed or technical ability so I take the melodic approach by necessity... lol. I like good melodic music anyway, but it would be nice to someday be able to throw in some cool fast licks!

Very cool of you to give everyone constructive feedback.

Hope to hear one from you, if you have time... this month's backing track is a good one that you could really shine on.

Re: Jemsite Guitar Challenge June '14: OFFICIAL POLL!

I wanted to enter this one because I really liked the backing track but I ran out of time...I've entered all of the challenges up to this one but summer is such a busy time for me - I've only had one day off at home with my wife in the entire month of July - so it's hard to fit everything in... =o/

Thanks, man. I enjoyed your submission for the May/June track. I was hoping you did this one, as well, but I know what it's like being busy. Hopefully, you're working something up for the July challenge. I can just imagine your bluesy tone I like over that track.
