Jemsite guitar challenge March-April feeler.

Hey everybody! I'm not formatting this post all fancy and stuff, because I'm tired, but I am interested in knowing if anybody would want anything to change for the next JGC?

I wanted to propose something a little different maybe for this time?
Could we perhaps to do "The Crying Machine" by Steve Vai? This is a forum dedicated to his sig model after all, and most of the song is improv-based.

Here is the backing track.

http://www.guitarbackingtrack.com/pl...ng_machine.htm

Of course, we can pick one from this (especially practice tracks 1-20).

http://www.guitarbackingtrack.com/bts/Jamtracks.htm

We can also do one from youtube if anybody has a good suggestion.

You can download youtube videos as MP3 audio files from here. I have done it many times before.

http://keepvid.com/

I look forward to your suggestions!!!

How about "track 02"?.... that would be a ton of fun, different from any done before, and easy enough for many of us to play to........

Yes I second "practice tracks 2" it sounds like fun and if only for the reason it might get Ryc to submit something

I'd rather stay away from the Vai tracks even though I jam along to the Naked Tracks all the time. It's not really as blank of a canvas as the "practice tracks" because we've all heard the Vai versions so many times...

BTW I think the format we're using is cool, but maybe do a new track every month instead of spreading it out so long...

Re: Jemsite guitar challenge March-April feeler.

After this last one, if we want participation, I say go with the Track 2 or Practice Track 2. I like Practice Track 2 better because it doesn't HAVE to be Blues but could be.

If we go Track 2, it has to be shortened, that kind of length is fine for multiplayer jams but too long for one single player. Again, we are looking for easy and participation.

LOL Either way we better hear something from Ryc!!!!

Oh yeah i thought we were talking about "Practice Track 2" I like that one, it's short and a little funky...

The one I would really like to see happen is "Heavy Melodico Em"... that's a cool track, little fast, little slow break down part...

http://www.guitarbackingtrack.com/pl...elodico_em.htm

We've done the mellow, now lets kick it up a notch

Yeah... thats a cool heavy-ish jam! Megadeth-y... :-)

I suck, but I'm learning, so maybe I can try to submit something. I see you guys submitting things in different ways... and I would like to learn more about doing some basic recording too. Might be a good challenge for me on many levels.

Maybe that's why I like it, Megadeth is one of my favorite bands

And I suck too, but it doesn't stop me from recording my suckitude and violating Jemsiters' ears with it

It's just for fun man, I don't think anyone is really taking this "competition" (or themselves) too seriously....

Re: Jemsite guitar challenge March-April feeler.

Cool guys, thanks for the responses! Seems like we are leaning towards something... But just for clarification, is the consensus towards this one:

"Track 02"

Or this one?

"Practice Tracks 2"

Thanks guys!

EDIT: If most of you are referring to "Track 02", which is a 12-Bar-Blues: That one is over 6 minutes long. There are some shorter blues' on that page if you want to check any of those out!

Re: Jemsite guitar challenge March-April feeler.

Ok... So, you guys want something heavier? Something hits me kinda off with heavy melodico, but if the majority prefers that, that is OK.

How is this one? It is Vai-ish.

Re: Jemsite guitar challenge March-April feeler.

Youtube has great stuff as well.

Here is an 80s style one. Kinda like VH "1984" stuff.

Look at these...

Remember, YT vids can be downloaded as MP3s. See the OP for more info!

Re: Jemsite guitar challenge March-April feeler.

I know I would rather do something 80's like the YT vid you posted or the Heavy Melodico than blues or Americana stuff...

Remember Frank most of us aren't as good as you, we need something simple and straight forward to jam on
