I listened and played (ok tried to play ) malmsteen as far I can remember but the few hours being joe's student thought me much much more. Great personality too!

ps: One should listen joe offstage before voting, its really soething incredible watching him shred.

Somehow I am reminded of "Spy vs. Spy".

joe needs to release more tabs and his popularity would skyrocket...

the guy hasn't got it plain and simple, so he can 'shred' so what it sounds dead, if yngwie is a piece of mahogany this guy is a piece of stained balsawood.

I really enjoyed Stump back in the day but Yngwie was the originator and was far more creative in his songs ( on his first few solo albums). I really wish Yngwie would stop improvising all his solos now and instead, really think them out like he did on Rising Force and Marching Out.

Yngwie is the king, no comparison.

I have albums by both but I can't listen the Yngwie, to repetitive and boring. Stump on the other hand is far more interesting and melodic. I can sit and listen to him over and over.

I never heard stump's music.. but he's trying too hard to look like yngwie..
I'm a big yngwie fan. People always listen to his speed, but he's so much more than that.. modern shredder might be faster (MAB, petrucci, buckethead, countless others..) but none has the same fiery passion in their music..

I have never heard of "the stump"(meaning the part of the leg you got left after a amputation-in swedish). But even tho i must say Malmsteen's music in the long run get kinda borring,he has done meny good songs,and meny really cool solo's,he is a beast on the guitar. As somebody stated above he might be an arrogant prick, but he sure can play guitar. I remember a Television show here in sweden and in an episode they fallowed Malmsteen and he walked into this Watch store and bought a Rolex for a normal year-salary. I thought he was a really cool dude....well i was 14 or so. Anyway he sure can play guitar.

Yep Malmsteen ,.hands down,.I remember Stump when I used to post tracks on MP3.com and sure the dude can shredd a mean axe ,.and ill tell ya,.there were so many very hot players on mp3.com that you dont hear about that offten,..
I remember a guy called Rick Renstrom, he is a phylidamide [deformed ],.but shredd oh yeah should look him up again actually we became friends for the time at mp3.com .

In short Malmsteen is a way above average player and I havnt heard anyone better him at what he does,the guy just ripps ,,he kick ass,.so for those that dis him I would say they either cant comprehend what he dose or are jelous,.sure there might be 1 or 2 that personally just dont like him ,..cool you get that ,.
