Keepers?

Okay there are many amazing guitars and collections owned by members here. I am wondering if you guys have any guitars in your collection that you would not part with at all or unless you got a ridiculous cash offer for it? Also are there guitars in your collection that do not get played as you have bought them as an investment and you're trying to keep it in as good a condition as possible?

Please fire up pics if you can as well.

Re: Keepers?

Post some poll options?

My answer would be that most of my guitars are keepers, I don't really buy ones to "check them out" any more. If I bought it, it was for a reason.

things like my Anniversary guitars don't get played much as I'm trying to keep them in good condition. But... that's cos *I* want them in good condition, not because I want to sell them in good condition.

Re: Keepers?

they are all keepers, but the "conveyor belt" theory applies, there is always one or two at the bottom of the rack that can "GO" to make room or generate cash. I regret selling a few of my older more rare ibbys that I was not playing, but I was keeping for investments.

Re: Keepers?

I bought a Jem 90th HAM to play it but due to easy guard fogging I have it as a keeper. The other guitar player in my band loves it and is always playing (and sweating) it. What the hell...!

I also bought a 777vdy as a keeper but I canīt stop playing it!

Re: Keepers?

With four children and a mortgage, I'd be lying if I said there was one without a price.

Yeah, but then a lot of us are probably a lot older than you and we've all been there

It's not like we're saying "which ferrari do you have in your garage as an investment?" There's a guy I know who only drives his black one, and saves his red one for show.

Those guys probably complain on thier sports car forum about guys who have yachts or something

Re: Keepers?

I only have two guitars. One is a Squier Strat that I learned to play on. It's priceless to me. Others would only pay $50 for it. The other one is my Yamaha Pacifica which is also priceless and irreplacable.

I had an Ibanez S once but I sold it because it wasn't for me. Since then I only buy guitars that I need. So any guitar I buy from now on I'll probably keep for the rest of my life.

Re: Keepers?

Meh, I smashed my 1st guitar.

I still have the neck, though. I scalloped it. Didn't smash that.

My LP won't be sold ever.

In the next few years, I should have at least a Ibanez Jem dbk.

Or something that can freaking dive bomb without going out of tune!

Re: Keepers?

I'm too fickle of a person to put the "priceless" tag on any of my guitars. They come they go. I have some regrets like everyone else here, but I don't own any guitars that I refuse to get rid of.

Still puts my Ibanez Gio to shame.

It's like a starving African child staring into a bakery.

(And now I probably lost what little credibility on this site already, lol)

Re: Keepers?

Can't sell guitars, only buy them. I'm a god damn hoarder. I hardly even play most of em but I just can't get rid of any.

Ah well, worse things to spend your money on I suppose.
