The lesser of two evils

So I was thinking the other day, and came up with what I thought to be a very interesting question. It came to mind after I talked with a judge for a "battle of the bands" competition, who had remembered the first band to play (they were very sloppy, had poor timing, both vocalists were nearly tone deaf, etc.), and forgot about another band entirely.

This lead me to think, "well, would I rather be forgettable, or memorably awful?"

I want to know what you all would rather in the case of your band/project.

If you're remembered, you're remembered, so if you just want to spread your name, that's better.

However, being forgettable would imply you played/sounded better... Can I change my vote?

Re: The lesser of two evils

Everyone has their off days, & whatever you play will either grab someone's attention or it won't. Some of my favorite bands have been called awful by others, & that's after they saw them live. It all boils down to a matter of opinion. If you're forgotten, then you obviously didn't put on a show for the listeners that forgot you, which means it wasn't their taste or style. Whether or not a band is horrible is totally opinion based, but they obviously did something that made them memorable.

Being memorable would at least mean people would get a good laugh like that kid who played horrible Nirvana covers. People said things like "that kid is an IDIOT! Why is he on Youtube?"

There are plenty of forgettable and amazing guitarists out there like Tiago Delle Vega. He's faster than Micheal Angelo Batio, but he doesn't register on most people's radars.

I would choose to be like the Tiago Della Vegas of the world.
