Non Ibanez Signatures

Ok, which of these two would you take home?

The EBMM John Petrucci or the Washburn Nuno Bettencourt?

We're talking standard models not the fancy BFRs or JPXYZ or whatever they call them though. and 6 string versions because I struggle with the number of strings they've got without complicating things more...

Re: Non Ibanez Signatures

Oh tough choice. I am glad I am broke and don't have to make the decision. However, I would rather have the Nuno if for the only reason is there is something about JP that grates my nerves and Nuno seems like a really relaxed fella. Yea, it is a silly reason.

Re: Non Ibanez Signatures

I'd totally take the N4 guitar... I've played them a couple of times and they're sweet guitars.

Re: Non Ibanez Signatures

Well, if I can break the rules a bit and have a 7, then the JP please! I really like the N4 but the small body on it is a bit weird if, like me, you're over 6' tall.

Re: Non Ibanez Signatures

How is the bridge on the JP? If you like the whammy I would be worried about a non-floyd rose type bridge.

i cant say i have experience with one but id imagine that if john petrucci uses it, its on a $2000 guitar, and ive never heard a complaint about it that its probably pretty good. and i think the JP's have locking tuners? not sure though

Re: Non Ibanez Signatures

I've played the JPs quite a bit, and owned the Nuno. I'd take the JP simply because they always felt better in my hands than the Washburn. Both nice, but different, and I tend towards the JP. That said, I would take a Jackson SL1 or PRS Custom 24 over either. I know you're not a big fan of the PRS, but I would try one more just to be certain. They are uber flexible tone wise and really difficult to put down if you play out. The Jacksons are a dream to play if you get a nice one, and nice ones aren't tough to find.

I never owned either one, but having seen and strummed them in stores, this is how I feel about them. Those Music Man necks are great.

Peace

Mike

Nothing to worry about. The trem is solid, with the locking tuners you'd hardly know you weren't using a non double locking trem.

Re: Non Ibanez Signatures

Nuno is better than Petrucci, alas the N4 is the better guitar of those two.

Haha...

Perhaps some flaws in your logic, but I do like the N4 more than the JP... if I wanted the JP, I'd probably just get something similar in an Ibanez and save $1500. The N4 has a certain mojo to it, and I dig the smallish body.
