Not sure on the thickness, but I have grown to like these.

Re: Pick gauges?

ChopTart, i used to alternate between the black and red's quite often.
I did find however, that once the writting on the black's wore down a little, they seemed slightly more slippery too me. I also found the feel different between the two.

A few weeks ago i decided to give the red XL series a try. I liked the fact there's more to grab onto, but they just didn't feel as thick or as good.

Re: Pick gauges?

I use the Dunlop Tortex's, .80 gauge. The yellow ones. they are my favorite out of all the picks i've used so far. I never understood why so many people liked the jazz picks, they're way too small!

Thumbs up Re: Pick gauges?

Ghe, I was checking out the Jim Dunlop picks site, and I saw that they now manufacture the "sharkfin" picks. 20 years ago I was using the original Sharkfins in 1.0mm. Brought back a lot of memories of my first serious gigs and all. This is a cool thread.

Rock on!

I like those as well. But, I've really started liking the green ones in that size. I think the green ones are the same thickness as the .88 mm. So, I'm guessing the purple ones are 1.14mm?

I used to use these ones, but now I use Cymbolic metal picks. I think they are at least 1.20mm. The difference in my tone is now huge!

You can vote! Just choose the fifth option; 'Extra heavy/thick (1.50mm and more)'. I think you missed the '...and more' bit.

Kind regards,

What's a V-pick? Oh wait, it's probably V-shaped, right? I should have thought about it more, before I started writing. I can't say that I have... But, I can imagine what it's like I guess, and, well, I wouldn't dig it. I like 'em tear shaped.

Kind regards,
Myst and rain
