Re: Tubes or transistors?

Everyone who thinks tubes sound better. Try Eleven amp modeller. If you can hear the difference, you got some delicate ears. Of course, playing through a computer is not really an option. But it sounds good, and it's not tubes - unless your computer is REALLY old.

If you really need tubes just use a CRT monitor. You know, as in cathode ray tube (aka CRT)!?!

Though I have an old JMP 2203 (and I like the way it sounds), I prefer the Line 6 PodXT Pro rackmount because its are easy to haul around, its versatile, and works well with in-ear monitor systems. Add to the fact that my rigorous three gigs a year touring schedule . . .

Re: Tubes or transistors?

Depends on the style. For an AC/DC crunch or anything bluesy, I like tubes. For metal, solid state does just fine.

For practicing and recording, I use a Line 6 Pod XT-Live. Easy setup, sounds good direct, easy to tweak.
