Kustom '72 Coupe 212 is my current rig of doom. I've also got a nice vintage Fender Deluxe Reverb as well as a bevy of solid state amps (Marshall, Ampeg, Roland).

How do you like the Kustom? It looks like a neat amp - what colour did you get?

I love it actually. I was about to buy an Orange AD30 combo when I found the Kustom. Although I think the Orange's raw tone was better the price on the Kustom combined with all it's features made it the clear winner. It's got the full spectrum from nice cleans all the way to great hard-rock tones. It's got a built-in adjustable volume boost which I love as well as Tremelo and Reverb.

I wound up with a red one - it's all they had on hand at the time. I'd still like to have another choice in the amp department but the Kustom is working out great. It sounds great at bedroom volumes as well. I suppose it's not "metal" enough for much of the crowd here but there's plenty of balls in there for my purposes. I'll have to take a pic and add it to the "rigs of doom" thread.

I'm looking as well I've played them all but don't own any. I'm trying to get a Train 45 at the moment, but we'll see I guess.

Carvin V3! Love that thing. Though I would love to have a Mesa Lonestar one day.

I have a Marshall, cracking amps, would love a Mesa or Peavey though. So much tempting gear, so little money...

Oh man, is "cracking" some crazy European term for "awesome?"

Re: The Ultimate Amplifier Poll 2

Mesa Boogie, all the way. To this day, I still don't understand why some people hate them. They hear Mesa Boogie and think "EW Rectifiers!". But guess what, Santana also uses a Mesa Boogie and that's far from the Rectifier tone (whether you dig his tone or not). Truth is, they are the most versatile amps on the market, by far. I'm not trying to bribe anyone into buying a Mesa Boogie, I'm just saying that they are used by so many professionals for a reason.

Re: The Ultimate Amplifier Poll 2

Personally, I don't like Mesas because in every mesa I've tried...there's always a dark character to them. And they are sometimes a bit too smooth and compressed for my tastes. I tend to prefer amps that sound more open and more of a British character to them--like a hot rodded Marshall.

Re: The Ultimate Amplifier Poll 2

I also think the Mark series amps are very popular . . .
