I used to play through an old Ampeg V4 head and on of those oversized rectangular Fender cabs (2x12). The thing rocked with a good distortion box in front (can't remember what I used). My brother still has that rig collecting dust in his basement. It's a relic.

I use an Ampeg JetII (15wtts, EL84's, 1x12, one channel) as a side fill and for stereo operation onstage. Nice amp with a great tone.

Re: The Ultimate Amplifier Poll 2

I'm playing a Hughes and Kettner Edition Tube 20th anniversary model and it is great. It is the first H&K I've had.

My Johnson Millennium that I loved broke in shipping, so I needed a new amp. The Tube 20th is very different form the Johnson, but wonderful. Currently going straight in with no effects.

Re: The Ultimate Amplifier Poll 2

I've got a Mesa Boogie TriAxis and 2:90, aswell as a Marshall JVM.

I love the tones on both, and they're very different from each other. I'd love to get a Mesa Road King though, it's next on my list when I've got the cash available .

Re: The Ultimate Amplifier Poll 2

I love how the poll has now passed 150 people who voted. That's a pretty big sample size. It's interesting to see what the majority of people here are using. I wonder how much money all those amps add up to . . . if each was $1000 that'd be $150,000.

Re: The Ultimate Amplifier Poll 2

Demon, I loved my Roadster 2x12. But after I got my Mark IV, I just never played it. I just sent it to NY four days ago and the dude that won it is in love with it as well. The Mark and the Roadster are both awesome amps, but totally different. I think The Mark IV has a much cleaner, prettier tone. Oh, and carrying a Mark IV head and rolling a cab is much easier than carrying the Roadster! I don't know what Mesa builds thier amps with, but you need a forklift to move the Roadster! I'm a pretty big guy and that thing is a nut buster! I just shipped it out and the shipping weight was 110 pounds did you hear that Ayrton? 110. Do you believe that ****? a 2x12 combo?
