I go between extremes. For most of my heavy work, i use a Dunlop Big Stubby, either 2mm or 3mm. For other stuff, i use (amazingly) 0.46mm light pink Delrins.
for electric i use 2mm mini stubby's and i have either some jazz pick(the black ones)or this wierd little green very flexable pick that i have no idea what it is, great for dynamics though
I alternate between the Dunlop Jazz III's, Pickboy Jazz 1.5, and the Dunlop 3mm Little Stubby's. Anything lighter than 1mm is far too flexible for my tastes.
I use those dunlop 2mm delrin standard shaped picks. I used to file the picking edge of them into a sharp point like a jazz pick, but recently I found that I like the scratchy sound of a standard shape pick. I can play just as fast with these picks as I could with a jazz shaped pick, and without any extra effort. It's all in your technique.
so do i!!!!they are so versatile...and comfortable!
