We don't necessarily want anymore "neons." We just want more choices than black and shades close to black.

I said yes. But truthfully I'm not really "bothered" by it. It would just be nice to have the choice.

Yes, it might be a silly yellow car but they still notice it, because it's flashy. That's the point surely?

See to me the only person who's opinions matter when it comes to my guitar is me.

I'm not playing in a band anymore, so I'm not out to "impress" anyone at all. Just have a bit of fun in my spare time I guess if you're more worried what someone else is thinking, then yeah, you may need something that appeals to Joe Q. Public. As my wife once said (whilst pointing at a stupidly quilted PRS private stock) "what's wrong with this one?" ... We made it out of the shop alive though

I like flashy and I am not worried about what Joe Q Public thinks. I could care a less what anyone thinks. But it's just something about playing on a vine inlayed (flower/sparkle/mirror/neon) or whatever guitar that inspires me to play better and with more depth and creativity. It really does make a difference to ME (all mental I'm sure)

I guess I'm just wierd

Noticing it is one thing, liking it is another If I saw a Lamborghini go past I'd probably assume the guy inside was, well... probably a bit of a tool.

I guess this is where we differ, and I totally respect that. Of course I wouldn't buy a guitar that I don't like, but when I'm playing infront of a bunch of people, it's hard to not wonder what impression you're making. On stage, your guitar sends out a message before you even play anything, so it makes sense to consider it when making your choice.

"Flashy" clearly means different things to different people. It always depends on context. I mean, you wouldn't turn up in a tux to a casual party. But you might wear your gold rolex with your jeans and t-shirt and be the flashiest guy at the party. In the same way, a Bugatti Veyron comes in jet black, but is has just as much 'flash' in its own way as a bright red Ferrari Enzo. 'Flash' is about the details, and it's all about the mojo! (sorry for more car analogies )

For the record i don't consider Maple flashy...whether it be fingerboard material or a top (see PRS, Anderson, Suhr, or Les Pauls for example).

Re: Are you really bothered that Ibanez aren't providing flashy axes?

Hasn't it occured to most that the average guitar buyer was only born in the mid- to late 80s and couldn't give a damn about the glory days of Ibanez?

Hoshino have to sell products to stay afloat. If they don't, there won't be ANY more 20th anniversary editions. Black sells in large numbers. Neon doesn't. Live with it.

Innovation? Two new trems on the 2008 models, NO ONE here has tried them yet, and there are complaints that there's no innovation?

Fuxache.

If you want an old-style guitar BUY AN OLD GUITAR.

And don't buy new black Ibanez models. I don't think Ibanez is going to miss the custom that much if they've done their market research right.

Re: Are you really bothered that Ibanez aren't providing flashy axes?

I would be bothered if they start making only bad guitars.

If they keep making excellent axes that happen to be black... well thats ok. If they make only rosť guitars I would be bothered I guess.

I might pickup a 77vbk if no new JEM arrives at NAMM.

I fail to see why neons "have" to be associated purely with the '80's Road Flare Red is a phenominally beautiful colour to see in the flesh, regardless of which decade it is!! DY is as cool as hell too Funny thing is....i see plenty of kids today trying to dress in an '80's fashion, but that is never mocked!! and a dress sense is more era-related than any colour whatever it's applied to!!

There's someone around these parts who has a bright yellow Lamborghini Gallardo. I've seen it a few times around neighboring towns, so I think he's a local. Yes, I like the yellow Lambo a lot.

Re: Are you really bothered that Ibanez aren't providing flashy axes?

Well I recently purchased a 77FP off Rich and I find it much more inspiring than my 7DBK. The clolours are brilliant, particularly under blacklights, and now i feel I'll have to mod my DBK to be more like my floral if I'm going to continue playing it. Maybe it's just the specs, but I feel much more creative playing a bold design at the risk of people doubting my "man-lyness" or something

Re: Are you really bothered that Ibanez aren't providing flashy axes?

No, because it's great to have cool 80's colors, but I find the older Ibanez users dominate this subject a bit and it's getting a bit tired to me. I know that DY and RFR and such are cool and remind you of the original 550s but, not everyone, I would argue most people, don't want a guitar in one of those colors.

I feel the same way when I see people posting swirl after swirled JEM and I personally thik it got old years ago. Now this is not meant to hurt anyone, please like what you want to like, but those color options and designs are dated and aren't quite classic for enough people that I understand not making every guitar in those bright colors.

I would like some more color options but, I would much perfer innovating hardware and design features. I hate to say it, but the 80s have moved on and shred is not in the majority. Yeah, I like it a bit, but if you gave me a choice between a DY 550 and a Black or White 550 with innovating new design features and I could only own one guitar (like most of the people who buy guitars) I would choose one of the later because then people wouldn't laugh at me in 5 years when the styles have once again changed.

Sorry but, I believe guitar collectors and people who started playing when shred and 80s heros were the coolest things don't make the majority of the guitar market.

People still wont be truly satisfied no matter what they do and most of us will customize any guitar regaurdless of features or cosmetics. They know all of these things and that's a big reason for their choices.

I find the Edge Pro to be the best Edge Trem so far (have a RG with original Edge and the Edge Pro wins over it by any means). + My Edge Pro has locking studs, donno what you are talking about. Maybe I bought it in the right place...
