[NGD] JEM777SK-30th, but what's up with the trem ?

Hello all, I only registered today because I once had an account but lost everything related to it. I'm Julien, from south of France.
Now, on to my question : I just received my JEM777SK-30th today, from an authorized Ibanez dealer in Paris (a real shop, who has all 3 colors in stock BTW), but as you can see in the pictures it came equipped with a Lo Pro Edge instead of the Edge it should have had.
Should I be worried/concerned ? How come this is possible ?

Thanks for you replies

That does seem kind of strange. Can you take a picture of the back, does the back spring cavity have the back stop system in it? And is the trem bar the Ultralite carbon bar?

Backstop is installed, yes, and I have the 2 trem bars with it (ultralite and standard one).
Everything is there it seems, certificate of authenticity, tools, etc.

You mentioned the shop has the other 30th JEMs there, maybe you can go back there and inspect them and see if those have Lo-pros on it also. Your guitar looks awesome, and I know know lo-pro is right on par with original Edge, but since the guitar calls for an original Edge I would definitely inquire about that.

I wouldn't consider it a downgrade (hell it's probably easier to play since it doesn't stick up so much) but it's not what the spec calls for...

Wicked! I'd call that a Special Special Edition! Much congrats!

I got nothing, except we all remember JS90's coming both ways.

What you do depends on why you bought it. If it's a player and you prefer the lo pro then you got a free upgrade. If you prefer the edge, or you bought it for a collection, I'd require it had the correct specs.

I think its cool! You just got the rarest stock version of this guitar lol. Dont be upset man! If you dont like that tremolo version though i would definitely have it rectified.

Re: [NGD] JEM777SK-30th, but what's up with the trem ?

Thanks for all your replies mates, I appreciate them.
In fact, I have always preferred the feeling of the lo pro edge (on my JPMs for instance) vs the original edge on my other JEMs.
I was just concerned because of the future resale value, I don't want the potential buyer (in 10 years time or so, if I ever sell it) to think that it's been altered in any way.
Tough one, my dealer proposes to send it back and take the other one he has in stock (he had 2 pinks, 2 yellows and 1 green in stock)
He asked Ibanez BTW who aknowledged the fact that it came equipped with a Lo Pro Edge when he gave them the serial number.
What should I do ? Keep it like this and consider it a unique model or take the other one he has ?

If it were me, and if I like/prefer the lo pro edge, I would request any and all documentation from the dealer acknowledging your guitar came equipped with the lo pro. I would then keep it and play the heck out of it. But that's just me. I plan on playing mine as much as possible. The thought of reselling it is far in the back of my mind at this point, but I understand your concerns. This thread alone is some proof/verification in itself, so you may have a unicorn. Your choice.

Re: [NGD] JEM777SK-30th, but what's up with the trem ?

Thanks. That's what I went for, i asked the dealer to provide me with a mail from Ibanez stating that mine came with a Lo Pro Edge out of the factory, which he says he could manage to obtain.
On top of this, he will try to provide me with a free edge in cosmo black as a spare part, or at least at half its price, so that I keep it with the guitar just in case.
So I decided to keep it and not send it back, as it seems to me a very good solution indeed, best of both worlds

At the price of those I think it's fairly reasonable to ask Ibanez to send you an Edge to keep in the case. Just explain that that guitar is great, and you don't want to swap it, but you need an original Edge in the unlikely event you have to sell it in the future.

It just seems so bizarre that this could happen in the first place, it doesn't give much confidence in the QC process!

Re: [NGD] JEM777SK-30th, but what's up with the trem ?

Pretty simple chain of custody here...

Either Fujigen installed the LP mistakenly, the distributor swapped out the trem upon inspection (with the wrong one) or the dealer swapped it.

Still it boggles the mind a $3500 guitar is delivered to the customer with the wrong trem. But then again this should be though of as a $1500 guitar with $2000 art/nostalgia upcharge.
