1989 JEM RB FAKE OR REAL ?

Came across an add this morning

http://vancouver.en.craigslist.ca/va...586289282.html

Looks like aside from the bridge PUP the vol/tone nobs are different , cant see the headstock.

This jem came with ebony fretboard ?

any help with info of the details of this will help me decide to buy or not today.

th body looks a little light in color to me..

Thanks.

Looks legit. Root Beer colors were all over the map. They had really light ones, really dark ones, and everything in between. I would run right now and grab it at that price.

Looks like the real deal. You need to post this in the correct section for proper exposure:

Looks real to me, but the fretboards on those are rosewood.

I love my RB, my favorite guitar.

Its not a ebony board, its rosewood. You'd be nuts not to pick it up for that price. That definately is the lightest colored one I've ever seen though. It could be his crap pictures though.

WOW ! I just met the guy in a coffee shop.... it was a FAKE fake fakety FAKE !

damn....

The neck was thick like a ukranian porn star, and the trem was as loose as the sleeve of a wizard...

first big tell was the back, the comfort cut was all wrong .here you can see the cut goes THROUGH the monkey grip, His was 2 inches around it...

Ahhhh the search continues...

happy for now with my 89 VBK & 87 rg550

Re: 1989 JEM RB FAKE OR REAL ?

Well spotted! Could it be that an early run had the standard cut which so happened to go through the handle, which was later revised to better accommodate the handle? Would be interesting to see if this extends to the PBKs also.

Dunno what to say about the neck as I've never played a RB.

Re: 1989 JEM RB FAKE OR REAL ?

Hey dude. The jem necks are hand finished. Some would be thicker then the others. I peruse the fake vendors a lot, and I've never seen an "accurate" rb dude. The pickups are faded right, the correct trem is installed, and everything is shaped right. Things to remember, its a 22 year old guitar. Unless it was case ridden its whole life, some things are to be a little "sloppy". Jem necks are also not razor thin either. Id say darn close to twice the thickness of an original wizard.

Id say your best bet is to take some better pictures and post them here. Some here havee a n rb, and can advise you further.

Re: 1989 JEM RB FAKE OR REAL ?

It Looks Real to me, but some closer pickups would help, one thing ive seen is that the handle looks to be in the wrong position, it normaly is closer to the middle, but it is an old guitar , maybe it was different, but to be sure, u can go to vai.com and see his guitars at machines, see if its like this one !
Beatifull Guitar anyway !

You're right about that dude ! they only look the same from a far look to the guitar and when not compared to a real jem !
