1990 JEM77 FP price

Hi guys,

Was wondering how much an early Ibanez Jem77FP in good condition would go for? I saw one selling for over $3.000 on ebay about 3 months ago. Anybody who knows?

Thanks!

I just bought a mint 10 out of 10, FP 15th for $1750 to my door a few months ago, with UV1000C Case.

Yeah, the average for these is somewhere in the $1400 range.

People on eBay seem to think JEMs are made of gold and price them about double what the market is saying they're worth.

Re: 1990 JEM77 FP price

I got one offered in pristine condition around christmas last year. 1100 Euros, looking as new as if just being taken from the factory! I just had bought my BFP before, so I couldn't afford it

That would be sth around 1444 US dollars.

I know, there are a few sellers that have several of their JEMs up for sale way too high. They keep relisting them for 30 days at a time, thinking they will get it someday, NOT!
I've even E-mailed some of them telling them GC has one just like yours used for $$$500-700 - 1000 less and they somehow think the guitar they have is special. These people just don't want to sell. When I was looking at getting a BFP I saw one on Ebay for $3249, I contacted them and they said the price was firm, so I bought one in better shape off Ebay for $2400. Shortly after they raised the price to $3449. They will never get that kind of money. I see a lot of Ibanez guitars for sale at the GC web site for less than Ebay.

People on here are much more inclined to brag about the awesome deals they get than mention paying a premium for a guitar they really want, if market prices were based on Jemsite alone the market would actually suck as much as people constantly whine about.

And seriously.... <$2000 for an ORIGINAL FP in MINT condition? That's just straight BS. Show me where I can buy one for that before you claim that's "what they're worth" (and by you I mean the collective you)

Forgive me if I question your judgement

Wow that's cute..

a) that guitar is several orders of magnitude more rare. 90% of the people on this site wouldn't be able to name an accurate market price without doing research first, which I didn't when I posted that. In fact it's so rare that it could barely even be considered to HAVE a market price.

b) you didn't quote the part where I said my first thought was $2000, which was about what he paid.

c) you didn't quote the part where I said I mostly posted because I kind of wanted it, in which case it would make sense for me to err on the low side.

d) you didn't quote the part where I said that my guess was based on "50% more than a USA custom" which have been selling for like $700-$800 lately.

and back on topic, show me where I can find an ORIGINAL FP in MINT condition WITH CASE for under $2000. I'll buy them all day

Re: 1990 JEM77 FP price

I budgeted 3K for my FP.

I expected it to be around that, considering they were retailing for over $2800 new [ which i couldn't afford back then].

I'm a fussy buyer, & i knew what i wanted. It had to be 'as new' & i paid a premium to get what i wanted!

I'm a happy man, made possible through this site. Thanks Jemsite!

Re: 1990 JEM77 FP price

Ibanez made a lot of FPs over several years, they are not hard to find. When I was looking for mine at the end of last year, Oct-Nov, I was trying to decide between three of them if A+ shape. I see them for sale a lot.

Right but the OP was specifically asking about an early model, which would mean '87-'89, maybe '90. FP 15th is not the same as an early model FP. An original FP in mint condition IS hard to find, so I'm not sure what point you're trying to make..

@coolngroovy thanks for being honest and telling the accurate market price that you paid.

The other two I was looking at were from 89 and 91.
One of them was $1450 and the other was $1700.
The 15th didn't have any pickup fading.
I just wanted to try the Edge Pro, so I went with the 15th and I liked the seller better too.
