1997 Never Played 7vwh

Does anyone know why I shouldn't buy a never played 1997 7vwh that's never and I mean NEVER been played? I can't find out what kind of trem it's got, and the owner doesn't know. He just bought the guitar because he thought it would increase in value over the years, but hasn't since Ibanez keeps making them. Does anyone have an opinion on this year?

Thanks,
Eric

Well if its been left untouched by the owner, the trem should be a Lo-Pro because its a pre 2002 model.

And personally if its at a good price and it is as clean as you say it is, then there is no reason why you shouldnt buy it. Maybe a test on the actual guitar might be good idea though.

It will have really burnt inlays in the scallops, and the scallops will be thin and inconsistent, otherwise no reason.

It isn't a store. This guy is just selling it because it's not appreciating in value and he's trying to get some of his $1600 bucks back out of it. So I guess that's a good price. Now I just need to sell my 777bk.

Obviously it would have the fat knives/tuning stability problems wouldn't it?

Rich would have to answer this one to be sure, but I'm pretty sure that problem didn't show up until around 1999 or so, but I could be wrong.

If you search the forum you can find much about it, including the "bad" years, I'm just too lazy to do it right now.

Is it me or the old models arenīt as heavy (weight, not tone)
as the recent Jems 7VWH? The headstock joint with the neck (around nut - 3rd fret) also seemed thinner.

Mine is pretty effing heavy and rocksolid...it is a first generation 7VWH though...and picked out of a big pile by some collector who sold it to me about 5 years ago...very very good guitar...except for the inlays...lots of filler...just about as much as my little dots all the time...

They've had fat knives and bad studs for a very long time, just nobody bitched enough to get to the bottom of it. They started using good studs [knives still too wide] mid 01' through end of 02' when they started using good profile but non-locking studs, but are grinding the knives thinner. Maybe by 05' they'll get it right?
