2001 price increase

Man, you know, when I got my VWH in 2000, the best price I could find was $2799 Canadian, and my UV777BK was $2399 Canadian. *I know now I could have gotten them a bit cheaper, but not much. *

Our prices are sick huh?

I paid 2300$ after taxes for my UV
it just killed me.

my next purchase will be from GMW guitars, they have stellar options for about how much I paid for my UV, Ibanez JPM7 here I come

Usually when there's a price increase (like EVERY year now right?) I see little things here and there from Ibanez saying the woods are getting harder to get... don't know if it's true, it's one of those things that we as consumers wouldn't really know unless you belonged to some "save the trees" group or something...

These prices are no good. *The Jem to start with, is not a guitar built out of, and by 'the best of the best'. *Although it is a great guitar, and easily my favorite, it is simply a ripoff at those prices. *If the prices keep going up, we'll see the Jem evolve from Vai's original 'working man's guitar' vision to something more of an elite Ibanez for people who can afford them.

Warmregards...
just wanted to make sure you know that the prices they were discussing were in Canadian dollars.

2,799.00 Canada Dollars * = * 1,774.67 United States Dollars

2,499.00 Canada Dollars * = * 1,584.46 United States Dollars

Those are not bad prices as 7V's go *-that's about par for plain retail for the US, no?

I believe the U.S. list price is still $2399.99 and $169.99 for the case. I picked up a new '99 right after the 2000 price increase. I paid $1338 for the 7VWH and $102 for the case, U.S. dollars. A great deal would be to get about 40% off list.

$1,774.67 for a JemVWH? *What is this -- Musicians Friend???

EVen if that price serves as an exceptionally good deal ( which I dont think it is), it is still grossly overpriced. *Think about what you get with a VWH. *Does it even add up to $1000 worth of materials? *I dont think so. *Even if it was, $774.67 is a lot to pay someone to put a guitar together. *Certainly not worth the craftsmanship on most Jems.

The only way a guitar is worth more than $1000 is if it's built by hand in say... the Ibanez J-Custom shop.

Those guitars may be worth some extra money but the Jem7VWH is a production line guitar. Outstanding quality at that but it's a factory default guitar. A lot of home or pro tech work has to be done on it before it's playing like it came from J-Custom... People seem to be paying these prices though... mabe Ibanez iss just taking advantage of that fact for more $$$$.

What does the J in J-Custom shop mean anyways?

Some people just don't have a clue!

First, ALL signature models are made in the J Custom shop as well as ALL Prestige models.

Second, any guitar under $2k IS a working mans guitar. Don't let me get into the pricing of other brands.

Third, put on your flame suit if you're going to go running around JEMsite spanking your monkey in public.

Yng ~ if you had a clue, you'd be a welcome Devil's advocate... unfortunately, you're actually just annoying. I for one wish you'd get your facts straight.

Sure, some people might think a 7VWH is overpriced. Especially when they compare it to a cheaper RG. They are similar but different in many ways. I would'nt dream of buying any RG since I've bought my Jems. They are just CHEAP guitars when compared to the Jems, J-customs, and US-customs. Look at other manufacturer's prices, I can think of several whose guitars cost a h*ll
of a lot more. I personally feel the upper end Ibanez line is priced accurately. My 7VWH is worth every penny I paid. --rvj

they are really nice...d*amn
, i own 3 and that is the most for me cuz they are too expensive. *eventually i will sell them off and just build my own thing...like what vai did in the early days with Performance guitars and parts. *that was cool cuz no one else had that look. *anyway, the jems are cool but i get bummed out cuz i love them but d*amn
it i hated spending close to $2k on a guitar. *that is insane to me since i just don't see how that can be. *it's the name. *a prs for $6k? *yeah right. *i don't care if picasso came out from the grave and hand painted it...that's too much. *i think we are all aware of what other guitars go for but it is a shame that they have to be priced like what they are....just like everything in life...does a 1 bedroom in a nice neighborhood really have to be $950 per month....come on! *don't get me started on pricing and stuff and i think those who have opinions should be able to express them. *it's just a guitar after all and if someone thinks it is too pricy, they are entitled to that without beind told to where a flame suit? *just my opinion.
