2003 Ibanez jem77fp price check

What do you guys think of $2k for a 2003 77fp in excellent condition all original except for the autographed back plate?

Without seeing pics, I’d say that is on the cheaper side if it truly is in excellent conditon. Everyone’s definition of excellent seems to be a little different though.

Yup. Compares very, very favorably to 777 30s and the FP2.

That price actually includes shipping.

I was wondering since the 03 has the Edge Pro it would be less desireable?

Maybe just a bit. It is the lesser desirable trem and the model year is not part of the first run of the series. Again, assuming it is stock, fully functional, frets are good, not beat up and the pickups aren’t tan colored (the pinker the better but if they are too pink then you start asking questions) the price seems good still. Not a steal but a discount is my estimation at that price. Assuming it is whaf he says it is, in the condition he claims and he knows what an “excellent” conditon guitar is. Also, while it is harder to do there are fakes of these out there. Really check that the underlying finish is indeed material and not a laminant. You can often see the edges of the fabric from inside the back trem cavity but it may be hard to tell without good pics.

Re: 2003 Ibanez jem77fp price check

Is that wear on the trem or just the light?

15th's are nearly as desirable as 88's but they need to be cleaner to bring the high dollars. If the warranty card is included and it's Chesbro it explains the missing signed plate. If it's a HUSA card then it is missing the plate which has an affect [but can always be replaced with any correct signed con cover]

As Rich says, there is a chance that it is a 15th Anniversary. Would be good to see the back. But overall, just from two pics it’s an interesting one for the price. Even a well worn 15th while certainly nowhere near a complete package minty 15th has some value. I think there were only 125 of them if this is what this is.

So not all 2003 models are 15ths?. He says it is. I was under the impression that if It's an 03 77FP then it's a 15th.
How do I tell, from the serial number.? What else do I need to look for to determine that?

TL;DR impossible to determine & is moot.

The serial is on the back of the headstock and have no bearing on what hoshino usa marketed as the 15th anniversary models for the ~108 they imported and mostly got Vai to sign plates for.

The 15th was no different from prior FPs except for 2003 they switched to EdgePro and wanted to closeout the FP run once and for all. As such the "collector" convo is moot unless you have a NIB model untouched with receipt, hang tags, etc. Condition, condition, condition is what matters with Ibanez fans.

Ultimately it doesn't have to be the top of the food chain example. I Just want to know I'm not getting screwed with that price, or if it's on par.
But I'm still not clear on how it's impossible to tell if it's a 15th with the serial number on the back of the head stock.
The impression I got was that ONLY 125 were imported as 15ths, no more FPS at all. Or was there also a plethora of 2003 77fps that were also imported as ordinary FP'S, not 15ths?
Is that how I'm understanding this?
Anything I've read about the 2003 model FP is that ALL the 2003 fps that existed were 15ths.

Re: 2003 Ibanez jem77fp price check

if you like it buy it. no need to overcomplicate.

2003 was the 15th production year (whatever a production year means to Fujigen and Ibanez). Also it's the only year with EdgePro so it's rather simple yet clear as mud because Ibanez is a Japanese corp and hoshino usa just created the 15th moniker to bring the model back to the USA for dealers to sell & get some quick easy sales. In this sense they really succeeded at keeping interest in the FP going strong even now, in what was a dead model in the USA (still sold overseas) for a few years prior.

It's only a 15th if it's US, it's already missing the signed cover but if no warranty card there is no way to tell. Canada, Europe, and Asia all jumped on the wagon but no other country considered them 15th's, only the US did. They certainly don't have to be new in box but they have to be verifiable or a fool and his money soon part. So technically it has to be provable to the US with warranty card to be a 15th, and then it should have the signed cover and the condition determines how much it's worth. Otherwise if it's just a gray market 2003 or if it's lost all it's proof it's a 15th it's no longer anything other than an edge pro Floral.

Chesbro FP's are also considered 15ths but never came with plates except the 20 I had Steve sign. So in order of value

15th HUSA complete package, then valued by condition
15th Chesbro with warranty, then valued by condition
Everything else is just an FP, then valued by condition

A dead mint HUSA 15th complete package is around $4000 today.

So with that being said Rich, if there is no proof of it being a 15th, is $2k a fair price?. It's condition looks to be excellent but not mint.
I want to purchase it either way, now it's a matter of its worth, say in good to excellent condition, what am I looking at?
