Hi im new to this board but i am extremely interested in jem and universe guitars first question i have is i am currently looking into buying a new guitar and as i am into shred/neo class music i am seriously cinsidering a 7-string guitar. what i would like to know is, is it really a good investment to go for the low b i mean will it pay off in the long run. i am pretty new to shredding but i love the low down sounds john petrucci and vai get with thier 7s so it has really peaked my interest feel free to e-mail me

I absolutely love my 7-strings... There all I play now!! My 6-string, which a poor excuse for a guitar in the first place, never gets used. I use low B all the time. You can do some crazy-asses extreme sweeps incorperating that extra string. Just everything about 7's, to me says "OH YEAH!" LOL
I wouldn't hesitate about getting one. Their wonderful! I've heard people say it takes a little time to get used to the added width of the fretbaord. I didn't really have any trouble getting used to it. It felt kinda natural. Not sure if this is what your looking for as far as an answer goes. I hope it helps, though.

Yep, it worth it.
Better to have one string more, than one string less.

I don't even own a six string anymore, not even an acoustic (got my 2027 for that). *You won't regret it, and even if you did you could always find a buyer on this site, as long as it was something worth buying that is. *All sevens are not created equal, so take your time and play around on as many as you can get your hands on. *Of course, we are all partial to Ibanez sevens, but there are some other alternatives...they're just not as good. *Any Universe, RG7620, 2027, RG7CT or CST will be great. *Stay away from any model with the TRS trem, ie, 7420. *You only want the Lo Pro Edge 7, best trem on the market, period.
