7dbk Question

is it normal for the tone pot to be bypassed? im fairly sure it didnt work straight out of the store, i jst had to have it though. also if i remember correctly it has a 250K tone pot, which suprised me. ive looked at the wiring and am somewhat lost
any help would definately be appreciated

If you can tell the pot is a 250k then evidently you've pulled the guard and discovered the wiring bypassed too? Remember this is GC where you can return a guitar umpteen days later for full refund, after you've tweaked it around any number of ways, and nobody checks upon it's return. The pot should be 500k and not bypassed of course.

ive looked around the inside but i have no idea as far as wiring goes. ill open it up and take some pics, at first i didnt care, but now that ive gotten better i NEED my tone pot. the 250k doesnt bother me to much as i play way more lead than anythng and almost solely on the single
btw what does a bypassed tone pot look like? as far as if it is or not im not sure, a friend said it was, but like he knows, it could just be busted or miswired, who knows

ok here are some pics

as far as the wiring goes there are two black wires connected to the back of the tone pot, 1 im guessing is the ground as it is wired onto the metal that spring thing in the back. the other black wire goes directly onto the back of the volume pot (pics 2,3), awhite wire connects the left metal tab to the left tab on the volume pot (3), the other 2 tabs on the tone pot are bent and touching each other (1), the right tab on the volume pot is bent and soldered onto the volume pot (3), it also appears as if there was a wire that was connected to the middle tab on the tone pot(1)

Here's the diagram

http://www.ibanez.com/wiring/wire.asp?y=2001&w=JEM7

BTW, all you had to do was pull the pickguard with everything attached, it'll come off plenty far to do anything behind it

Not take them off to begin with

Pull the trem so you have room to work.
