88' 777DY - pink outline?

Hey All,
just bought from the bay a nice 88' 777dy.
It's on its way right now, but from the pics I've noticed that there is a pink color on the edges of the pickguard...is this normal?

EDIT:
here is the complete set of pics from the seller: (its one long image containing all of them...)

Thatīs the real deal. No pink on the pickguard nor the body. Itīs just camera reflections. Hope you enjoy it!

I've no idea what those pink lines are. I've note seen them before, but if other people have and so it's ok then I gues it may be ok.

Would it be too late to change your mind if there were problems?

Hey NSR,
i paid for it with "PayPal's buyer protection" so if it turns out to be a fake i guess I'd be covered. besides that pinkish lines it seem to be totally legit, to my eyes anyway...

Well I don't think it's a fake.

Like just about most things second hand, it's not going to perfect so you're going to have to accept that. But as long as you're happy with it, that's all that matters.

You may want to order some replacement trem posts. Don't forget that there are locking posts in there if you go ahead and replace them.

Re: 88' 777DY - pink outline?

Obviously the strap buttons are not original (and one of them has been moved). It could be a resprayed SK, or, possibly a new body.
The pickups and controls look new as well, so it's likely a restoration where the owner has changed the faded SK to a nice DY. maybe the lines are the original paint showing through.

Re: 88' 777DY - pink outline?

It actually looks like someone traced around the guard with a pink pen. It does look like it is on top of the DY in some parts.

Re: 88' 777DY - pink outline?

Just purchase a hot pink switch tip from Rich and you'll be set. Looks like the pickguard is new possibly and there's a layer of film underneath that he didn't remove???

Re: 88' 777DY - pink outline?

Hadn't thought of that, I wonder what's under the scratch plate?
Could it be from spraying the pink for the lion's claw in some way?
natanel I didn't meant it was a bad thing, the DY finish looks awesome.

Re: 88' 777DY - pink outline?

Upon further inspection, it looks to be some sort of residue. It's found its way onto the neck as well, so I don't think it was originally SK. Maybe some sort of protective agent? If it were a complete respray, then the headstock would be flawless as well, yes? The logo is a little scratched (no offense) which would mean originality. I think you are safe. Congrats!
