95 jem7vwh fretboard type confirmation

Hey folks,
I'm in need of some expert validation on the type of fretboard wood on a jem I'm selling.

The serial is F519553 and it's a 7vwh.

Is that a legit serial # for a 1995 model?

A potential buyer seriously believes it to be rosewood and not ebony. I had the guitar verified on this forum back on the winter and I want to assert that I've not falsely advertised.

Input appreciated!

That's a '95 number, so unless the board was replaced it's definitely Ebony. Got a good pic of the board?

Re: 95 jem7vwh fretboard type confirmation

Thx Bernie/swirl.

Neck and fretboard are original.

Here are some photos I took earlier. I've asked the buyer to take some brighter ones as he has the guitar:

http://imageshack.com/a/img827/1899/1nt7.jpg
http://imageshack.com/a/img69/446/4a20.jpg
http://imageshack.com/a/img845/6501/52yw.jpg

The buyer claims to be very knowledgable with JEMs (most likely a member here too I imagine).

So my intention is to validate the description of the item as I described the fretboard material as ebony and help verify/refute the buyer's claim that it is rosewood.

Certainly ebony!
See how it looks like solid slab with no grain?
You can see rosewood grain.

if the buyer can't see that, then he's not as knowlegable as he thinks.

Yeah the buyer is nuts... that is clearly Ebony, and a very nice piece at that, no question about it..

Here are the pix from the buyer…of the same guitar…I have to admit he's got a very valid point in terms of it being rosewood:

The fretboard does not appear to be replaced so my new question is this…is there a chance that Ibanez made any of these in 95 with rosewood?

What point?
Those pics are too small to tell anything.
there are dark rosewood boards, but you can see grain regardless.
on yours, no grain. It's ebony!

Sounds like your buyer doesn't know what he's talking about. His pictures suck. They are so washed out that the gold locking nut looks white. His claims are ridiculous. It's obviously ebony. It's a 1995 JEM7VWH. This guitar only came with an ebony board. How can he claim otherwise? It sounds like this guy is trolling you. There isn't one shred of evidence that points to rosewood.

The guy is probably having buyers remorse and searching for a way out of the deal...

Alright, here are the photos from the buyer that show the fretboard in direct light:

http://postimg.org/gallery/b8yxywzu/

It looks very convincing as Rosewood…but i'm not convinced.

He (John Mameli) is getting his friend (Joe Despani) to examine the guitar tomorrow for verification.

The saga continues….

Ebony isn't always Jet black it can be lighter in color. Honestly it doesn't even look like the same fretboard as the one in your pics. The color looks a lot lighter, could need to be oiled a bit looks dried out...

Yep, and funny thing is that the potential buyer's board looks ebony too! Just lighter like you said. It has streaks and just needs to be dyed back darker a bit.

This buyer just doesn't know his stuff. I think he's trying to get you to lower your price over it, and this shouldn't make much difference anyway.

And he's getting Joe Despani to look at it??? Talk about scare tactic!
Even a Mickey Mouse Guitar Center clerk can tell the difference between rosewood and ebony. Why is he going to get Joe in on it?

Well, here's the latest from Joe Despagni (the master) and he says rosewood:

Apologies for wasting your folks time on this…I appreciate the input but hopefully this ends the saga.

It doesn't end your saga!

The guitar he's holding may have a rosewood board. Yours has an ebony board.
If he's giving you that much trouble, then find a new buyer and don't give in to what that guy thinks.
