about jem's sound...

well
can we get sound of gibson and fender with a jem by using an equalizer?

In my opinion, no, that's why I also have a strat and les paul.
Maybe you can come close but when you have trained ears you willl hear the differenct!! I will...

I reckon you can get a cracking Strat tone... The Les Paul on the other hand is a different prospect! I wonder if I can have a mahogany Jem with a set neck, a pair of Gibson PAF's and a tune-o-matic bridge... I reckon that would sound pretty good. Oh, and if you're gonna argue... Just remember I'm only a ferry trip away from you both

With a JEM7vwh or 7vsbl, or one of the basswood ones with paf pro's you should be able to come close to that shrieking strat-sound (because of the alder/basswood tonewood and sometimes maple fretboard) but a mahogany feel and sound to a guitar is just quite another thing. A big mahogany body has got a typical warm natural sound, just like a les paul does.
