About to order my 1st Jem, asking advice from Jem experts.

Hi there,
I have played my 94' Malmsteen Strat since, well '94 :P Awhile back I played a Jem 7VWH and fell in love. Perfect looks, feel, you name it. I have decided to purchase one. I would like to know of ANYTHING I should know about before making this purchase. I will be ordering the guitar, sealed, new, from Washington Music Center. The price, WITH the UV1000 case, is $1669.00. No tax since I am out of state, and $25.00 shipped, insured. What do you think of that price? How about the dealer? Also, has the Jem changed at all recently? ( the model I am buying ). The only negative's I have read about are: crappy setup ( but this doesn't matter since WMC will set it up for me the way I like it ), and paint flaws in the claw and monkeygrip. Is there anything else I should know about/consider? I have never mail ordered a guitar before, and will ship it right the heck back if there are any flaws. This Jem community looks great, I can't wait to join the club! I really value any input you all can give me, $1669.00 is hard earned for me. Thanks in advance.

My advice? Buy a used Jem VWH from a well-known Jemsiter for around $1200. Get references. Also, e-mail Rich at Ibanezrulez... see the banner above for deals on new ones...

Check your email. But just for the record, WMC is a very good outfit and used to be site sponsors a few years ago. In fact I think I took their spot in the rotation when they pulled out.

I bought my first Jem (JemVWH) from WMC... but now I will only buy new Ibanez guitars from Rich. Rich's setups are incredible, including prices.

Thanks Gabe, I just hate the thought of "borrowing" a sale from WMC without at least saying they're first class guys!

My advice....same as everybody else...Rich.

I'e bought from other places, but now, I only buy from Rich, new and used. Unless I come across an incredible deal, Rich is the man!

(Rich, I know this butt kissing isn't gonna get my guitar here any quicker ;-) )

Hey Rich, I understand... It's just I had to wait 7 months to get mine from WMC. If I had to wait that long again, I'd go somewhere else and even pay a more to get it sooner.

Good retail store...

I'm no fan of buying from retail stores... but...

I just picked up a brand new UV777 from Guitar Center on a grand opening sale here in Orlando. Because it had a tiny scratch on the back of it, they gave me $100 off the sale price of $1,569 and threw in the case for free. I paid $1,550 out the door for a brand new Universe with the UV1000 case. And they price match, so if you find a good deal on the Jem of your choice, take the deal to them and see what they'll work out for you. They were great to me... best 'o luck.

I am seriously addicted to this site now, that is for sure. I kid you not... the past three days I have spent 5+ hours here ( forums, various web page sections, etc ) PER night. LOL! I'm trying to soak up the entire JEM history! 1 week ago I didn't even know what a JEM10 was. The 7VWH is what drew me in, and it's what I shall start my JEMOLOGY with! ( a nice start, I must say ).
