About time for the GMC to go...

I have watched 2 GMC's go on the bay in the last few weeks, one for 4200 and one for 4300. I am thinking it is about time for mine to go. But the prices seem to be still climbing. Should I just go for it now, or do you think these things will break the 5K mark? I bought it more as an investment, and got a good deal on it. So I'm not trying to be greedy, but then again, I did buy it as an investment, so it would be pretty stupid not to try to get as much for it as possible. What do you all think?

If you bought it as an investment, hang on to it as long as you can. When you REALLY need the money sell it. It will only go up in value.

Re: About time for the GMC to go...

Seems to me that while prices have been rising in general, prices of GMCs, PMCs, etc. are heavily dependent on the quality of the swirl. The one that sold on 3Bay the other day was one of the best GMCs I've ever seen. Just amazing. This one's nice too, but I wouldn't expect every swirl to sell for these kinds of prices.

Unless Ibanez finds a storeload of them that they forgot about and suddenly floods the market with extras, won't it only go up in value? Keep it in good condition!

Re: About time for the GMC to go...

what about my post number

No seriously, i'm with bikeman on this one.

If it's worth (or being sold for) 5k now it will only increase in value if you keep it in the condition it is in now.

Unless you need the money now of course

Re: About time for the GMC to go...

I say screw both of the options and plug that sucker in and play it..

but thats just me.

but finacially speaking there will inevitably be a point where it just gets insane and no one buys them. No matter how rare.. Thats my opinion. I love Ibanez just as much as everyone else but its not like that guitar had any significant change or impact on guitar history to warrent that much money. I myself would sell while the market dictates a decent price. If you can make money on it sell it.

In stocks same way lots of people dont know when to sell, they keep holding on and holding on till eventually the stock drops and then you here the man I should of sold it earlier when there was a peak..

Well right now the older Ibanez's are peaking.. Do what you will but I would sell it, make my cash and move forward into another investment.

That's a very nice GMC. Sorry to hear you're letting it go. Hopefully someone here will give it a nice new home.

You did just get it. Why don't you hang on to it for a little while?

Re: About time for the GMC to go...

I have been thinking about the same thing after watching the GMC's go for over 4K. I agree they were exceptional but no matter what the swirl looks like the GMC's and PMC's are pretty few and far betweem out there. I have a PMC that I was thinking of selling but when I started taking pictures to post I just wasn't ready to let it go. I have another Jem that is a harder one to find (LNG #006 in near mint cond.). I bought it for what was a fair price at the time because I really wanted to have it for myself and I didn't care it it became more valuable. If you bought your GMC as an investment this would be a good time to sell while there is momentum behind them. Just make sure you're really ready to let it go!
