Adjusting Universe for new strings

I just changed the strings on my UV777BK for the first time. I decided to go from the stock 9's to a 10 gauge. I noticed that I had to tighten the Lo Pro springs a LOT to adjust for the new gauge and level out the Lo Pro. I actually had to tighten the springs so much that the screws are all the way in and can't tighten anymore. Right now I have the strings in tune and the Lo Pro looks to be lined up right. Does this seem odd to any of you? I guess I'm just surprised that I had to tighten the screws completly in to adjust for strings that are only 1 guage thicker. Is there something I forgot to do? Maybe I need to add two more springs to the Lo Pro for a total of 5? As you guys can tell, I don't have a lot of experience in adjusting trem systems, so any help is appreciated. Thanks!

One more thing, I'm trying to figure out what year my Universe is. The beginning of the serial number is F005. Does this mean it is a 2000? Thanks!

4 springs is enough, otherwise you get exactly what you have.
