advice on buying a jem77fp please

Evening all, i have the chance to buy a jem77fp, has the common neck joint cracks, pups upgraded to an evo2 on the bridge and an evo on the neck, but this is the bit that worries me.

NO SERIAL NUMBER ON THE HEADSTOCK....

The owner seems like a genuine guy, he`s had it for 5 years, plays and sounds good etc etc but i have no way of ascertaining its authenticity without the serial on the headstock, the serial on the neckplate is 260513, mean anything to anyone?

The owner says its a 1996`ish and wants 900 pounds sterling?

Your advice would be most appreciated as i need to be buying it tomorrow or it will be gone.

Thanks

Lots of old Ibanezes dont have headstock serial numbers (a lot had stickers that were lost).Thats not a big deal.

Check out Rich's page on dating your Ibanez.

FP's don't have the serial on the headstock, they have it on the neck plate....

best of luck with it!

Re: advice on buying a jem77fp please

I read last night that the newer latest 77fp has these pups, is that right? Max @ Cottam mentioned that they are gutless and tinny, whats your opinions?

thanks
