Another 555 Trem question

I just snapped my high E string, so im getting ready to go ahead and do a full string change. I've used DR for what feels like 90% of my playing, but im going to try Elixirs. I've used them before and figured I should have one guitar with DR and one with Elixir so I can actually determine which I like better.

One question I really want to ask is, is there a specific string that reacts better with a FR?

Re: Another 555 Trem question

I dont know about reacting differently, but i wouldnt put Elixirs on if you use the trem very much. They last a long time, but if you do a bit of whammy abuse, they're going to snap alot easier, just like any other strings. And they cost twice as much too.
They do keep that new string tone for longer because the coating stops them corroding as much, but it wont stop them snapping because of trem use.

Re: Another 555 Trem question

I also use cheap strings because the tremolo bar is not left unused on my guitar. I think I snap a few strings every week. Sometimes daily if I'm really into hitting the tremolo bar .

I never tried those coated strings but they're way too expensive for tremolo use.

Mayby another question, half off-topic, It'd be stupid if you're on stage doing a kick-ass solo using the whammy bar and then SNAP! Do springs snap less easy when they are brand new and you pull the tremolo up? Maybe change strings 2 or 3 days before gig, so they don't go out of tune and you can still safely "stretch" them out?
