Anybody not like the sound of their evolution in the neck?

My neck evolution in my Jem honestly doesn't sound so great........its seems that i cant get a great tone out of it and it doesn't sustain well, and it muddies up very often......did anyone replace their neck pickup and what pickup did you replace it with. I have a Jem7vsbl if that matters at all.

I tried out the AN7 in place of my PAF7 in my UV and found that the AN7 had WAY too much bass....but the 7 string version may be EQ'd differently
