Anyone swirled a JS or S style guitar?

Hi,

So, I was just curious. Has anyone swirled their S or JS style guitar? I would like to see some pictures if possible.

I'm contemplating on ordering a custom swirl JS2400 from someone.

Thanks!

there was one done not so long ago (last few months), i forget the guys name on here, but the work was done by ET in Australia. it was a Black/yellow swirl if i remember rightly.

hehe funny you mention that. I just read the thread.

I'm planning on getting Ibanez JS2400 body from Perleguitars. I'm trying to figure out if I want to swirl it or stay with a solid color. For the color I want to get something similar to this.

There have been a few JS and Radius guitars swirled. Herc Fede had a 540R for sale on Ebay not long ago that was great. It didn't sell in the auction but he probably sold it independently.

Also, here's my favorite from andyt:

That is probably my all time favorite JS. He does such great work.

There was someone back in the mid/late 90's (can't remember his name) with a PAW swirled S that had 2 monkey grips (one behind the bridge), and a scalloped upper fretboard. He used to run a great site that was Jem related, IIRC.

I remember that one, it had 2000 as part of the name, but that's all I can remember. The two monkey grips on a S model, not much wood left. Pics of it used to be available on Jemsite...

I seem to recall that was Larry Larson's I think - he used to run "greenjem.com"

Re: Anyone swirled a JS or S style guitar?

Thanks for the photos guys. I was thinking of getting a JS2400 aftermarket body and swirl it but I wasn't sure if it would look right due to it's shape but I think it will work.

I'm waiting on a reply back from a local custom shop to see if they can make me a Fireman body first.

IMHO swirls on rounded bodies like Radius or Sabres are more cool and more interesting than flatter faced bodies like JEM/RG.
make sure to check this out.
looks like the bronze color you've mentioned:

Thanks for the advice.

If I were to do it in that solid color I was planning on using all black hardware. However, I was looking on a local guitar site and they had a RG550 Coral Mist guitar for sale. Only $449. I'm thinking of maybe buying that and swapping necks. Either that or see if someone would be willing to make me a Ibanez Fireman body with a square heel neck. Now, that's what I really want.

Re: Anyone swirled a JS or S style guitar?

I have a herc fede s swirl, mini claw with monkey grip, havent built it yet. Using a neck from a rg570. I may swap the pickups out of the rg1xxv I just ordered for the s, wonder how it would sound in a mahogany body.
