Apologies DULL THREAD! Pick guards

I am after a pickguard for my jem, a white 7vwh. I really dont like the gold or pearl stuff, so am trying to get something different. Taken ages to get all the screws and fixings in black / cosmo now all that is left is the scratchplate.

I cant get a white one from ibanez, but did think of maybe black scratchplate, and black knobs and fittings...

~Anyway, any thoughts on where to get a 3 ply white scratchplate and truss rod cover?

Re: Apologies DULL THREAD! Pick guards

There are several pickguard companies that will duplicate your pickguard in any of dozens of materials. I doubt you will find a 3 ply truss rod cover as that would be WAY thicker than the OEM part and might not fit under the string tree very well. My first choice would be WD pickguards and you should be able to find them with a google search. You can call them and they are very helpful(I have used them before). A plain black guard might be a bit boring but black pearl or black mirrored might be a good choice.

Hmmmm, I would have to say mirror since you don't like white. And, do yourself a favor, it will look better without the truss rod cover.

Re: Apologies DULL THREAD! Pick guards

I just got a JEM77VBK and am myself considering swapping out the mirror pickguard on her. I'm wondering if a white pearloid will match the body binding.

But I'm a cheap son of a bitch and don't want to order in a pickguard that I'm not going to end up using. Any opinions or experiences out there about how it would look?

A VSBL guard is solid white.

Pearl would be the closest match, and it's up to you if that's the look you want. White on black is a very strong contrast, not exactly my cup of tea. But I have the EP cut VWH guards if you decide to go that way.

Doesn't the VBK have an Edge-pro? I would think that whatever color guard you go for, it would probably have to be cut for a EP ?

Re: Apologies DULL THREAD! Pick guards

Anyone know where I could get a tortoise shell JEM pickguard? If I could find a tortoise shell pickguard, I'd STRONGLY consider a 7VWH...

YEs it does have the EP. And yes, my Vsbl is a 2002 (LP)

An LP guard will fit directly on to an EP trem equiped guitar. Now if your going the other way around (EP to LP) you'd have to do some cutting in the trem cavity area of the pickguard.

I'll draw up a lil diagram to show what I'm talking about and post it later on this afternoon (along with some pix of my Vsbl)

But for now, the STEAKS are calling
