Autographing Jem and Universe - thoughts?

I lucked out and managed to land aftershow passes for the opening show of Steve's Real Illusions tour tonight.

Wondering if I should/could get my Jem and Universe signed by god (i.e. the maker).

I've never done this before, so I was looking for suggestions:

1. How best to haul in the two guitars?

2. Where's the best place to sign them?

3. Any way of protecting the signatures after that? I play these pretty often and don't want the autograph to get rubbed off.

Thoughs? Ideas?

Hey congrats, I guess the back of the headstock is the best place for a auotograph. Have fun at the gig.

the best thing to haul 2 guitars, is a fender 2 guitar gig bag. very confortable
2
and yes the back of the headstock is the best place for a sign.

i dont know anything to protect it but if it gets signed in the back of the headstock, you wont hurt the sign too much, just clean it with soft and "dry" cloth just to remove dust, (never use guitar polish or cleaner).

Good luck

Or take off your backplates, have him sign those, and not have to bring the guitar.

Just a thought.

god dont sign guitars he considers it worshiping a false idol

if your going to see Steve Vai maybe you could get him to sign it , i hear thats easier than asking god

Just take your backplates, or truss rod covers, or something.

Done!!

The show was awesome and I really enjoyed it! (first Vai show in 19 years of listening to his music)

It was easier than we expected to get the guitars in and signed. Even got a moment to talk to Steve for a little.

Thanks for all the suggestions.....now to figure out how to protect the signatures from rubbing off since I play both of them quite a lot!

I'm assuming he bought the Premium EVO Experience tickets or signed up on the Vai forums to be randomly selected for backstage passes.
