Best custom shop to buy a Replacement Neck?

Hey everyone!

The seller that sold me the original 777DY neck bailed on me, so I was just wondering if you guys have an opinions for a custom shop that makes replacement 777DY pyramid necks?

I Live in Canada, so it would need to be able to be shipped there, and I would Like the best bang for my buck.

Thanks in advance,

Verus

There are only a few options these days. Nate Perle through eBay and ET Guitars.

ET has got nothing but positive reviews, so i would order from him.

Hmm thanks guys, I was looking at this neck: http://www.perleguitars.com/n057.html But on each side of the pyramid it looks like there are small circular drill holes or something that you can clearly see? It just looks kind of sloppy so Im not sure. Any opinions?

Thanks, B

Re: Best custom shop to buy a Replacement Neck?

Update, I've looked around and Nate Perle offers the best price wise necks... Anyone have a Nate Perle neck? Whats the quality like?

Thanks,

Brett

Ask Nate Perle about the inlays.
See what he has to say about it.

Ok thanks Sebastian, also I contacted Sims custom shop and it would have been around 500+.

The small holes are due to the size router bit he's using and possibly his CNC programming. He could get cleaner inlays by using a smaller bit. I'd go with ET personally. They did what appeared to be a really nice job on Macka's neck.

Ok thank you. Perle had a neck ready to ship and ET said it would take 12-14 weeks to make one, so I'm not sure which way to go.

Re: Best custom shop to buy a Replacement Neck?

I have zero experience with custom shops, but ET did a really nice neck for someone's project here. It sounds like Perle's neck is already throwing up red flags. That tells me who I'd rather work with.

Re: Best custom shop to buy a Replacement Neck?

You'll get those route circles with a lot of inlay work. The neck I got from Ernie has them, although they're pretty small. I'm sure with darker wood fretboards, it becomes something that you can't see. The pics on Nates website I believe are from some of his earlier necks and from what I've been told, he's improved quite a bit. Ernie @ ET is great to work with. You will however, if you live in the states, be at the mercy of the lack of strength the dollar has right now so you'll pay $500 + depending on options. I would have loved to try out one of Nates necks, and maybe I will in the future but I've already ordered a 2nd neck from Ernie. With that I at least know the product I'll be getting. Not that Nates necks are bad. I've dealt with him as well, bought a swirl body from him and he does a fantastic job with them. Timing was an issue and that was the only other reason I went with Ernie. Price-wise, I'd try out Nate.
