Exclamation Best year(s) for JEM7V in terms of quality, and craftsmanship?

I've been reading a few posts suggesting the later year (2005+) JEM's have some quality control issues as far as fret wiring, and CNC machining accuracy go. Personally, I have only owned one JEM, and was forced to sell it, so I cannot inspect it now, however, at the time I didn't notice anything bad/wrong.

If you guys could please shed some thought on this topic I'd appreciate it, as I'm ready to buy another JEM, and it will be my only guitar for at least a year, so I want to make sure I get the right one.

Thanks!

2002 is supposed to be a good year for both materials and craftmanship. 2010 the best for hardware.

Brand new Edges in all the JEMs is my guess.

Re: Best year(s) for JEM7V in terms of quality, and craftsmanship?

I've got a '98. Bought it because of the ebony board over the rosewood. It seems pretty decent, a couple paint issues in the hard to get at spots like the lions claw and the monkey grip. Hardware is pretty solid. Frets are nice 6105's. The edges are beveled a little farther than Im used to on my RG super wizard. Just need to lighten up my grip, and toy with the setup a little I suppose.

One thing I did notice is the jem neck seems to be a little fatter than my RG neck which was surprising. But I also heard the Jem's neck profile changed over the years. Is that true?

After wanting one of these for 10 years and paying almost 2 grand for the damn thing I was expecting to be a little more impressed than I was I guess.

I got a first year VWH brand new in Tokyo and still have it. It's the cat's meow. It had literally just left the factory.
