let's see, there are 3 Jems, 2 JSs and about a dozen RGs currently in production...

which models did you have in mind? you can't just compare all sedans and all SUVs!!

Well it all depends on the tone you want. You could get an EXCELLENT condition JS1000 for as much as yu are looking to spend or a used pretty decent shape JEM for the same amount. I am not too much into RG's although I have owned a few in the past. They are GREAT guitars.... just not really for me.

I just got a JS1000 and it ROCKS!!! If you want a SCREAMING pickup then go for something that has EVO's in it. If you want a nice warm distortion but still has growl then go with the FRED pickups. Either way though you will be getting a killer guitar that will do anything you tell it to

2 JS's?

JS1000, JS900, JS700, JS100 (uh..ok, last one's probably not a serious option )

I've got a JS1000btb and it's amazing. *A s/h JS1000btb or more likely, a s/h JS1000bp could be bought for $900 or less. *

Depends what you want to do with it. *The JS series come with 22fret necks. *This matters to some ppl (mainly Vai fans I guess!).

Oops! *I assumed if they advertised them on their site they must still be making em!

http://www.ibanez.co.jp/world/guitar/js/js_toppage.html

Also, why would someone limit themselves to "production" guitars when there are many other guitars in the range available s/h ?

I guess I had a lil problem with that concept, but thanks for correcting me about what they're actually still manufacturing

I definately think JS and JEM surpasses very nearly all RG models. Definately.

This vote really can't exist with JS and JEM in the same poll. I mean they're like night and day. You can definately feel the relation between the 2 in the fine Ibanez high end playability but the sounds and versatility of each instrument is night and day. I see most RGs as a lesser JEM what with the stock Ibanez pickups and wizard necks.

I'll take a JEM neck over a wizard any day.
EVOs and PAF Pros just blow any pickup out of the water. Well, Breeds are a very good front pickup and Fred is a very versatile rear pup. Lower output so you can crank the gain and still maintain lots of clarity. A big part of the Satch tone.

In a nutshell: I can't vote with JEM and JS in the same poll. Both killer, world class axes.

YngVaiTriani's got a point here. *The JS and Jem have large differences in feel and tone. *Still, since I own one, I'm giving my vote to the good JS. *I love the neck, and I haven't found anything that has beat it out of the poll position in my life.

Jem - good but too expensive, just because of the name.
JS - good but the neck is too thick.
RG - less good, but way cheapier w/fast neck and the same bridge featured on Jems & JSs.

I go for a good old RG.
