boring NGD and pickup suggestion

JEM 7V is not something very exciting here. It’s not in my priority list either since I already have a JEM 90th but my girl friend wants it, so here we go.

JEM90th has Evos and I don’t like them for clean sounds. So I am thinking to replace Evo neck pickup with Paf Pro on 7VWH. I want fat, warm, dark clean sounds from neck position, more like Gibson clean than Fender.

Any suggestion?

Since when is a 7v BORING?

Best guitar ever. For me. I want one. All of them that I've played have been nothing short of amazing.

It is NOT BORING!

OK they are not boring and still very pretty. Maybe I already have a JEM, so a bit less exciting and 7V is very common.

Air Norton maybe? I happen to like the EVO neck pickup on my 7vwh more than my older PAFs. Air Norton was my favorite on my EBMM JP6 though.

I use EVOs exclusively, they're are very versatile to me, but if you want to stay with the VAI touch, try the breed neck pickup. It's close to the PAF Pro but darker, fat and warm tone should be what you are looking for...

Hi TS,

Nice 90th with an impeccable pickguard.

I guess its personal preference, but in my case, the EVOs on the basswood body of the 90th sound a little brighter than the alder on the 7vwh.

Back to the 7vwh, have you considered the Petrucci Liquifire?

I've always been fond of Tone Zones. They just seem to have amazing tone lol. They sound really awesome in clean when you split the coils

I too think the Evo is fine for cleans, but if you like the fatter tones definately check out Breeds.
