Buzzing sound touching Pickup ring.

Hey all, trying to find a solution. Since getting back my guitar I've noticed when the switch is in the bridge position and I'm touching the ring or silver bracket around the bridge humbucker I hear a lot of buzzing or noise in my amp.

Leads me to believe its a grounding issue. Not being an electronics specialist I don't know what to look for. Should there be a wire touching the ring grounding it or should there be a wire going to the bridge to ground it?

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks and merry Christmas all!

Jason D

There should be a wire grounding the bridge to the back of the volume pot

Re: Buzzing sound touching Puckup ring.

Thanks Swirl,

I removed the back plate and cover for the electronics and from what I see there is a wire soldered from the bridge spring plate to the volume pot. There's also a second ground wire I think going to one of the pickups soldered to the volume pot as well.

I'm gonna do some more investigating, but from the looks of it the grounds like like they're soldered in good.

Re: Buzzing sound touching Puckup ring.

OK, I got it fixed temporarily and strangely enough with some scotch tape and a wire. Taped one end of the wire to the Tone pot and there were 3 pickup wires taped together with electrical tape where I stuck the other end of the taped wire to after carefully placing it there. Noticed the bad ground buzz stopped there, so I taped the other end to the wires so it wouldn't move. Put the cover back on the cavity and so far so good, no annoying buzz when I thouch the pickup bracket ring.

As soon as I get a chance to see a proper tech, I'll get it repaired properly, cause my Red Green fix with scotch tape is just laughable.
