Jem can do a lot of things, including getting really close to the tones on "Surfing With the Alien". What do you mean by "deep bluesy"?

You can do almost anything on a guitar if you know how to do it. I've never run into a guitar that can't play certain types of music. The closest thing I've ever come to that is a BC Rich Beast. And even with a guitar board it would still be able to do a bluesy sound.

But then again, my equipement consists on 3 guitar, 1 amp, and 1 board.
And of course, if you try shredding on an F-hole jazz guitar, I recommend you run head first into your door.

I'm pretty sure you can get some decent "bluesey" tones out of the 7vwh. Use the neck pickup and roll back the tone some.

My 90HAM sounds like that in the neck position. Just a tad more than my 7VWH

I can get great tones out of the JEM for jazz. Neck pickup, clean, roll back the tone to what sounds good to you. I've gotten some great sounds that I can use live. I play mostly fusion and jazz and it does the job for me.

How different does the 90ham sound vs 7vwh, regarding evo's in basswood vs alder body?

I changed to steve's special and air norton, since I never liked the sound of evo's in basswood, but I've never tested a 7vwh, so PLEASE tell me

But I love the sound of a JPM though

You can do almost anything on a Jem, but it isn't always the best choice for a given style. An older PAF Pro Jem will sound fine for jazz on the front pup with the tone rolled back, but an archtop will sound a bit better.
No guitar is perfect for everything, thank God
Who'd want one guitar?

Well, I only play one at a time! I couldn't do without my Jems or my archtop, and I still need at least one good Tele (a 52 RI).
