Can you tell which track is a JEM? Part 2! with distortion!

Alright, i got requested to do another one with distortion.

The tracks are on a 87 JEM, Gibson LP studio, and a Epiphone SG. The amp is a 50's Beltone amp, cranked real loud, with a bit of dirt provided from a Boss gt-10. I will reveal the order when a get enough comments.

Can you tell me what guitar is where?

I actually didn't like the sounds of any of them, and hope you're kidding about using the Jem!

Why?
Guitars have no sound.
The sound you hear comes from gear.
So the fact he has bad tastes for tone(gear) doesn't change the quality of a Jem or any guitar.
It doesn't matter which wood, brand or price level a guitar has/is, what matters is to what it's plugged in

Uhhh didn't this get settled in the last thread by NATO?? Clean tone, no frills just guitar and amp. It pointed out just how different three guitars with different wood/neck combinations can sound completely different, because of how the wood affects the tone.

Oh I forgot, it's all in the pick-ups right??

You're just afraid you can't tell the difference between them.

No idea which is which, but the third one sounds best to me.

I just thought the sounds coming from my computer speakers of the three guitars plugged into that amp sounded unpleasant to my ear. I was just hoping that those unpleasant sounds weren't being reproduced from a guitar whose sounds I love when I make them...

I couldn't tell at all...To me it was muddy and unpleasant. Not his playing or the notes he chose, but the sound of that amp with that particular pup selection. It was like bassy mud-trebly mud, and mid rangey mud!

But I also think "In God We Trust" by Stryper was a brilliant album even with all the compression! Remember opinions are like ***holes we all have them and they all stink!

:
Well, thats the sound of a dry, cranked up combo amp. I would agree that it is muddy. But, thats a classic tone that many people seem to like, and try to achieve. The amp i'm using is like a "poor man's" (in this case, canadian) Fender Tweed.

I could do tracks that are clear, singing, compressed, effected like nuts, and with incorporated with a band. But, that really defeats the purpose of this test, because you wouldn't hear a difference. Between drums, bass, keyboard, other guitar tracks, and vocals, it would be hidden.

Guys, this is one of the most interesting and useful threads about tone we've had in a long time, let's not de-rail it with our own opinions about where exactly tone comes from; start your own thread for that.

Keep this thread about which clip is which guitar until the OP posts the results.

I need to get to a PC with half decent speakers to listen to these clips, both the clean ones and the new distorted ones.
