Chibanez packaging

Has anyone seen this before? There's a guy local trying to pawn this one off. I've never seen this type of packaging before, down to the prestige box and instruction manual.

Thieves, all of them: makers, sellers, buyers. Thieves.

Peace

Re: Chibanez packaging

F**k, they're gettin' good. We've gotta keep our eyes wide open. Why don't they just brand they're own stuff and sell it? I don't get this copycat crap.... It's because of this that some top brands die... don't buy copies we all loose in the end.

regards,
Nelson

Yep--fake! They are getting better. I think they don't brand their own, because they know that slapping Ibanez on the headatock almost guarantees a sale.

Re: Chibanez packaging

i've had a chance to take a look at one of these up close, someone in my city had bought one and tried flipping it the neck is unbelievably close, to the point where i had difficulty telling it apart from my Jem7v the give away on these models(exact one that you are showing) is the bridge has a screw on design for the bar, the other giveaway is the weight, it is much lighter than the actual jem's and where the neck joins the body you can see where the contour of the body is suposed to match the neck routing, but it is extended out a bit, so the shape is visible from the back(like the neck should be moved into the body more) if that makes sense,

There are other dead-giveaways: monkey grip size, lion's claw length, truss rod cover, logo placement, inlay material, and tje same batch of serial numbers.

Re: Chibanez packaging

not true anymore, the grip size side by side was identical to the back cut narrowing, like i said the neck itself was the most impressive part of the fake, other than the feel(not as smooth unfinished) the neck was near identical to my jem, if i can get a few more posts in i'll link a picture for the OP on what i mean by the neck heel

But is absolutely true about the one shown in this thread. You'd have to be a noob to be fooled by that hunk.

Re: Chibanez packaging

the unfortunate reality of the fact is that low prices and promises to deliver can entice new buyers in the promise of a pristine guitar that the buyer has always wanted up upgrade to, the low price creates a false "rush to buy" complex in some buyers in fear that they will not be able to get it the next day because of the price they assume will be snatched up, then they are left with buyers remorse the next day when it sets in that the product they have bought is an inferior copy

Re: Chibanez packaging

That's a terrible fake..... I feel sorry for the poor buggers who buy these though, although a true lover of Jem's would know that something is up, with the look and price. I've heard that the only things these are good for is to smash them onstage as they are completely unplayable.

Re: Chibanez packaging

I'll never understand why they go to so much trouble with things like the Team J-Craft stamp and yet the guitar still looks like a steaming pile of dog crap.

They do, to some extent. If they pop up on 3Bay, Rich can get them removed. As far as other places these pop up on, it has to do with the Ibanez legal dept.--Rich has the info on that...
