Cling Vinyl and Chromeboys - has anyone tried this? Is it sa

Hey guys - I've managed to source some Static Cling Vinyl, which I saw mentioned on another link on here, to act as a guard over the area where my arm goes on the body of my lovely shiny JS10th.

What I wanted to know is - has anyone here used this stuff? Has it caused any problems or has it protected your guitars well?

The only thing that is niggling me is how 'stuck' to the body it would get after a gig and a horrible picture forms in my mind of taking the vinyl off and watching all that lovely chrome go bye-bye too!!

Any experiences guys?

By the way - had the 10th for a week and still can't stop smiling - plays great and sounds awesome! (I actually prefer the tone to my JS1000WH).

I've been using a static vinyl pickguard on my JS10th and DNA for awhile now. *Not sure if it's any different from the material that you're using, but it is a product that was specifically designed to be used on guitars. *Probably the same thing though. *I've had zero problems at all, and it's actually worked out very well!

Where can I get this one that is specially made for guitars? can I use anyone for that matter, or is there an advantage to the "just for guitars" version?

Cling Vinyl / Window cling etc. (comes in various names) - you can get this stuff from people who make signage for window displays. It's the same stuff they make vinyl letters and graphics out of to put in shop windows. The key thing to remember is to ensure it's clear VINYL and is the static cling type - i.e. it DOESN'T use *any kind of adhesive to stick!

I can't imagine how a 'guitar specific' one could be any better. Someone feel free to correct me if they know otherwise, but I guess cling vinyl is cling vinyl. The advantage, I would guess, of buying the vinyl yourself and then cutting it to shape is that you can shape it to go exactly where YOU want it to.

You can get it in various thicknesses and various lengths. It isn't too expensive either. I just got a 5 metre roll (30 cm wide) for 20. Should last for ages!!

I live in the UK and the people I bought from were kind enough to send me a sample first and then, when I ordered, delivered the next day. If anyone wants to know who they are, let me know!

cheers,
Sukh
