Coming home! - the wayward UV returns!

So, as of yesterday I finally got to see the guitar found wedged between two rubbish bags and a childs pink tricycle in one of the more rundown areas of london. The guitar in question is the first UV I bought a year ago, only to have it stolen 2 weeks after I got it. I never though that because I never noted down the serial number that I'd ever see this UV7BK again, but lo and behold when I saw her I knew it was mine. So I gave the guy some reward money, put it in the case I got it in and took it home.

It all started last monday when, while sitting at work, totally having pretty much forgotten about losing my guitars (), I got an answer phone message from some guy at Andy's down denmark street in london asking me if I was the bloke who had lost a universe last year, and wether I could phone him back. So I did, after which he told me that it might have been found and asked me if I could get him a description. For some reason I had the next day of work, so after obtaining a description from the police (not the police station mind you, the coppers in wood green were total unhelpfull arrogant bastards:angryfire I rang the guy up again and gave him the description. He then passed it onto the man who'd found it who called me to pretty much tell me it was almost definately mine. He also told me he'd found it dumped in his front garden between two rubbish bags. He'd see the headstock by chance, simply thought it was a crap 30£ guitar untill he counted the strings and rang up a couple of shops to find out what it was, and once he knew what it was just happened to call the exact same shop where i bought it from a year ago, who remembered that I'd had mine stolen. Very weird, but really cool and randomly lucky! And it's given me a bit more faith in people and honesty. The guy got given some reward money as well, as he is also a struggling musician, and could quite easily have just gone and sold it. So  to him!

So yeah, the bridge is in worse condition than it was, but still usable and playable (in fact, don't notice that the saddles are in a bad way at all, even if one is just almost completely black). There are a few more scars and nicks and dents in places, some scratches, chips, and the headstock has more of the universe logo missing and part of it looks like it's been slightly rasped by a cheesegrater. And it stil has that slightly sinister air about it, like it's watching you in a way (very weird). And she still has the same green dimarzio clip lock strap I put on her a year ago.

So now I need to decide wether to keep it as it is, or to replace the neck and the bridge with the neck and the bridge I bought to do a project with! Currently the guitar has quite a bit of character, but the new neck and bridge would clean it up a lot, and the new neck is nice (a near mint UV neck I got of ebay)

I think I've also decided to give it a name, especially after it's found it's way back to me, but as I've never named a guitar I need some help, any suggestions?

So yeah, now I have two UV's! (Even if I am now very very very very skint and poor...)

I'd recommend that you keep it as it is. You also have the cool story to tell about it.
Got any pics?

congratulations james!

I've never had gear stolen (touch wood), but it would suck most horribly. it must be great to get the UV back.

and I'd say go for the project option. if you have another UV, then why not?

can't help you with the naming though... I have something against giving objects names, even if they're guitars!

cheers,
--clive.

Congrats on the return of your UV!!! I'd personally keep it as is, it adds character and tells of it's journey. *-rvj

James,
* as of a suggestion for the name you should (or could) call it 'oscar' like the puppet who lives in the trash in seasmie street.

'bad penny'

'oscar' is a good name *(well done Big Job)
'grouch'
'booger'
'kermit'
'snot monkey'
'slimer'
'broccoli' (its evil, so is your guitar!)

...As I said to you on the phone yesterday!
great! I am glad to hear that your UV came back to you, weird that mine also went out of my possesion for a while and came back to me (also a uv7bk).

Look forward to seeing it next month!

Cheers

Simon

:frog:

Nice story, very happy for you.

But... Sounds strange to me : the description you give of this guitar : "And it stil has that slightly sinister air about it, like it's watching you in a way (very weird)".

I really believe there's something supernatural with this guitar. It was brought back to you as an Omen. That's the name I would give it : Omen.

My 7PWH's name is "White Lady", and only positive vibes come out of her. But yes, she's also sometimes deeply mysterious....

I think we have to arrange a meeting at next Jemfest UK...

Should I begin my career as a writer ? Not so bad, no ?

"Boomer" as in boomerang, even if you didn't throw it away also cause the low B booms.

Good story.

You never said yesterday that the body was a bit banged up.

You could sand some patches on the body and stain the wood green so it's kinda like your BSB..

Congrats again dude !

It's blue dammit

Yep, it's nice to have it back, even if it does mean I am now very very very poor.

And strangely, it does actually still have that weird vibe to it...
